By Ambrose This is a great read, chronicalling with verve a childhood and young adulthood in the oilfields and college towns of Texas during the 40's through 60's, and an adventurous adult life running a landingcraft transportation service in Alaska. Whether stealing candy from the corner store and stealing into movie theaters as a child, being the first woman to parachute in the Texas Panhandle, or flagging down ships in Southeast Alaska, Mogensen has led a life of adventure marked with both joy and tragedy, which she describes with passion and nuance.

By mm A heart-felt, funny and often poignant collection of stories of a young girl growing up following oil in Texas and Oklahoma in the 1940's, of a marriage that would eventually lead a young woman to Alaska, and of a personal loss that would be overcome through more adventure and love. A good chronicle of a life lived full.
