About the Author
Captain Alan E. Eschbach, USN (RET.), was born in Rawlinsville, Pennsylvania, and he grew up in nearby Quarryville, in the heart of the Amish country of Lancaster County. He attended Millersville State College and then joined the navy. During his twenty-five year naval career, he served in a number of positions on six ships, including being the Captain of two warships.

Humble family beginnings to struggles through life and what the Navy was to him. By the time I put this book down I wished the Navy had more leaders like Alan. If you pick up one book to read this year make it this one. This is just not leadership at its finest, it calls to you. What influences you, what drives you and most importantly what is right. It provides a powerful reminder that you have influence and how you carry yourself and how you treat others can take you far. My view from the bridge wing is a shining example of how one person can reach others and provide a pathway for those to find their way to be the best they can be for them and those who work with or for them.LCDR Tabitha Edwards, USN

Best Book of 2015 By Everett Goode My View From the Bridge Wing traces back through Alan Eschbach's life and how those events influenced and shaped his very unique and powerful leadership style. Not only does his piece really take the reader to many of the different settings Alan writes about, but it also allows the reader to dig deep within themselves and relive the experiences in their life that helped guide who they are as a person today. This book is a must read and is definitely a book I will continue to use and refer back to for strength, clarity and a stronger perspective. I think this piece should be referenced and used to teach leadership to all the service academies in the country to really show exactly what it means to be a selfless and diligent leader.

It's a down to earth bio of a young boy growing up in southern Lancaster County Pennsylvania and how he finished a brilliant Nav By Jay Newswanger Once you start reading My View From The Bridge Wing it's very hard to lay the book down, It's a down to earth bio of a young boy growing up in southern Lancaster County Pennsylvania and how he finished a brilliant Naval career. The way he analyzed people and situations was absolutely outstanding. I think any one interested in leadership or just plain old common sense knowhow could learn a lot from this book. When one thinks about the responsibility of commanding a warship and it's crew and the split second decisions that have to made you can only admire someone in this capacity. Good book and very well written.Jay Newswanger
