Silk, Author/Reviewer Marianne Spitzer has a special talent when writing mystery or thriller stories. Her writing exhibits good feelings of warmth, especially involving families or loved ones. In this story, Clark Cavanaugh proposes to Annie Ryan and she merrily accepts. The engagement ring fits perfectly; did Aunt Irene tell him the correct ring size? She'll have to quickly inform friends Georgie and her parents; also Laci, her teen-aged daughter who is away at college. Laci is not pleased, knowing her mom hadn't known Clark for too long. Clark is a State Patrol Officer for the State Attorney General's Office. Annie has a bookstore and an early customer already knows of her engagement. That's normal for small towns. Claudine is not one of her favorite people who constantly tries to belittle Annie, but Annie is confident now and has ways of keeping Claudine at a distance. Clark makes a quick stop into the book shop letting Annie know he'll be out of town for a couple of weeks to tie up some loose ends of a case he'd been working on for the AG's office. It's an undercover job and she can't have his telephone number to call or text, but he promises to contact her when the timing is right. This is his last assignment for the AG as Clark has accepted to fill Detective Berg's position at the local police department. Annie has inherited the old mansion once owned by Inga Kelleher. She and Georgie are currently clearing everything out of the mansion and Annie plans to transfer the property to the city of Heavenly Corners which will turn it into a museum. It's Sunday and Annie is looking forward to Laci coming home in 10 day, she's missing Clark, and excited and tense at the same time about Laci meeting Clark. Yummy is a Yorkshire terrier she has also inherited from Inga. He's barking and running up and down on her lakeside pier. If there's something wrong, he lets her know. The problem now is a body is floating at the base of the pier ... and it's a woman. And Annie seems to become suspect in this possible crime. This is an exciting and entertaining novel to read. It's nicely structured and written for an easy read, especially when tucked in a warm, cozy environment. Highly recommend, and I'm looking forward to the next Annie Ryan mystery.

I gave her name to my daughter who also loves mysteries. I always feel like I'm living in the story. When I start one of her books it's hard to put down until I finish it. So please keep the books coming!!!
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very good By Linda Cole I really enjoyed reading this book because of the characters involved. Aunt Irene and uncle Lyle are sweet and a hoot trying to take care of Annie and her sleuthing sidekick Georgie.
