When I was finished with sweet, I assumed it was a standalone, but goodreads says it is the first in the Sweet series. Now I am even more intrigued by the book than I was when I finished it, because I cannot wait to see what the author is going to do next with the series. It is going to be freakin’ insane.I really enjoyed Sweet. The idea behind it is scary as all get out…because of how realistic it seems. Solu is a brand new sweetener that is also a weight loss supplement. To celebrate the launch of this innovative new product that is promised to change the weight loss game, Solu pairs up with a luxury cruise line- bringing in celebrities along with normal cruise goers to partake in a luxury weight loss cruise! I love the idea of that, but what happens next is straight out of a horror film. View Spoiler » I loved the idea behind the cruise taking a group weight and and after weight as a cruise theme. And the ship seemed first class, but everything else I want no part of. haha It made for a great read though! It was crazy seeing people trying to get more Solu. I thought it was brilliant the way Emmy Laybourne layered the undercurrent of addiction throughout Sweet.Sweet is told in dual narrative between Tom and Laurel. Tom is the celebrity host of the cruise and Laurel is dragged along by her friend. Both Laurel and her friend can be called curvy, but Laurel’s friend is obsessed with losing weight, and Laurel likes herself the way she is. I love how what a positive body image Laurel has of herself. And I really liked Tom’s interactions with Laurel on this topic. Sweet was really interesting because on one hand, you had this crazy Solu epidemic, and on the other hand you have this really sweet budding romance between what seems to be an unlikely pair at first glance. The horror/thriller aspect of the book competed perfectly with the romance. It was a very entertaining pairing.Sweet took me by total surprise. Once I started reading, and I got my first glimpse at what the solu was going to do, I didn’t know how much I would end up enjoying Sweet. But I am so happy to say that this book surpassed all of my expectations. I really liked it and I want to read the short story prequel now. Not to mention that the ending, which I initially thought was a great ending to a standalone in this genre, now has me salivating for the next book.*Disclaimer- I got a copy of Sweet in exchange for my honest review. By Wendy Shanker Emmy Laybourne has done it again: created a fast, fascinating novel that captures the imagination and takes the reader to a WILDLY different place than ever expected. What I really loved about SWEET is the way she takes our fascination with celebrity culture and body image and twists it around...she shows us how dangerous it is while entertaining us at the same time. It's a really great balancing act. I also really fell for her lead character, Laurel. I feel like I know Laurel, relate to Laurel...but never get to see enough young women like her in novels. I really hope that Emmy's M-14 audience reads this book, in addition to all of the YA and not-so YA readers out there who are into suspense, humor and thrills. You will love this book.

By Fable's Library I always talk about how much I LOVE James Dashner’s books, how epic and awesome sauce they are and you know what? I think Emmy Laybourne is becoming another one of my FAVORITE authors! I have LOVED her Monument 14 series (I still need to read the last book xP) it was creepy, intense and heart wrenching and Sweet was kind of like that.I never heard of Sweets existence until I saw it one day at Barnes and Nobles. I looked at it and was like, okay, cool it’s called Sweet, looks creepy. Mhmmmm. Then I moved on. Well I came back to it and looked at it closer. That’s when I saw that Emmy Laybourne wrote it and it had to be creepy and intense and awesome, that’s when I knew I HAD to have it. I had to I just HAD to!But I could only get one book and I really, really wanted The Cage because I knew more about it. The Cage was okay, I mean it wasn’t what I was expecting so maybe I should have gotten Sweet first because I LOVED it!Anyways, I went to Books A Million found it and clung to it with all my life, read it in about 2 days and freaked out over the ending. That’s how Sweet and I came together for a short, sweet while.What I Liked: I had really no expectations when I got Sweet, because I never heard of it. I only expected it would be good because Emmy Laybourne wrote it. It was good…really good. Sweet started off as a somewhat slow ride, it cruised along (get it?) and eventually got better and better. The story switches between two characters point of views, Laurel and Tom. Tom’s a celebrity and Laurel is a ‘nobody’, she’s just a normal girl. She’s fine with how she looks and acts, she’s fine with her weight while her friend Viv isn’t fine with either of their body shapes. I LOVED Laurel and Tom. Laurel is shy and funny and she’s a nice normal person, she’s not a jerk, she’s not snobby, she supportive of her best friend. What’s not to like about her? I also LOVED Tom. He wanted to be happy but couldn’t find happiness, doesn’t like his job, he’s nice too and I like him! Anyways you know a book is great when you love the main character! Sweet made me feel a lot of things. I was happy for the main characters, sad for them and then…all of a sudden I was absolutely terrified. Oh. My. Gosh. It gets bad, it gets really bad! If I were on that cruise I don’t think I’d be able to sleep for a long, long time. The ending had me so disgusted I was horrified. HORRIFIED. No, the ending isn’t terrible I think it suits the book so much but OH MY GOSH! Why Emmy Laybourne? WHYYYYYYYYY?What I Didn't Like: (Mini maybe spoilers?) I expected zombies T.T there weren’t zombies!Overall: Sweet is terrifying and horrifying and really good all at once. It wasn’t quite what I expected but I loved it and recommend it!

We don't have to live as victim's of the past and whether we're the perpetrator's of wrongdoing or the victim's of it, there's always hope and a way of restoration. But I don't believe as some do, that it's as simple as just deciding to move on. That's part of it, but real healing has to take place first, and it can.Injustice has played such a part in shaping Africans and African Americans into who they are now, or at least who they are perceived to be; but that's not their real identity, it's only the one that's been thrust upon them. My journey was about identification really. About listening to people and not being afraid of their anger, and about recognizing that you're not better than anyone because of the color of your skin or even your social standing. What I did and was a part of, may seem like an unusual thing to do, but sometimes unusual things are needed in order to raise awareness; especially when the wounds run so deep and are so far in the past.Writing 'The Amazing Grace Tour' was a voyage of discovery for me also in a lot of ways. By Deirdra Doan ."The Amazing Grace Tour" is a moving story of how the past can and does still effect people today. It gives you empathy as you hear stories of real African American individuals today and for me, it was so moving to hear their stories in their own words. It is inspiring and hopeful to see how prayer and love is so very simple and yet so healing. The book gave me an understanding and insight into the pain and anger of some African Americans and how much prayer and reconciliation needs to happen in order to heal the people and our country. This book is especially timely now in light of the news and riots, anger and pain with police involved in African American deaths. It is all very confusing, but this message is needed more than ever and helps straighten out a lot of the confusion.

Great Romance and Suspense mixed beautifully By For the Love of Books This is the third time I've read this series and each time I enjoy it more and more. I am in total love and admiration for Cash- Money. I would love him as my boyfriend!!! This book is a mix of romance and suspense which is wonderful. The two genres are interwoven so brilliantly. Charley is so strong especially when she has her Kluft girls around her. I love that Casey Peeler has given us such a wide range of characters from the main protagonists to Piper, Tessa, and all the girls. This adds such depth to the story. I adore this series please one click it you won't be disappointed. I happily award it 5 stars ~ Rosie

It's really hard for me to write a non spoiler review, but no worries I won't include any spoilers.In the beginning of the book Charley is dating Dylan. Something happens and she ends the relationship by totally avoiding him. Cash (who Charley calls Cash Money) is her rock. Charley describes Cash as her "knight in an F250 and a pair of Carhartts." I love that description of Cash. Charley goes off to college and Cash stays on the farm. Charley loves Cash but she wants to experience college and find herself. Cash is fine with that. Cash tells her, "I am willing to wait, continue being your best friend, boyfriend, continue being your rock, but I'm not leaving you ever again."While at college Charley becomes friends with the girls on her dorm floor. She also meets Joe. Joe seems to be the perfect person for Charley to explore college with. Charley goes back and forth between Joe and Cash. Both Joe and Cash know about each other and form a friendship.The characters were well written, which allows the reader to bound quickly with them. The end of the book took a turn I never expected. There's a huge cliffhanger. You are definitely left wanting more.Finding Charley: Finding Charley is a great book. Finding Charley is the second book int he Full Circle series. It can not be read as a stand alone. You must read No Turning back first. Finding Charley starts right where No Turning Back left off.After Joe comes clean about his involvement with Dylan, Charley comes up with a plan to stop Dylan. This plan is absolutely crazy but true to Charley's character. Everyone goes along with Charley's plan because they know Charley will do want she see as the right thing to do no matter who is behind her plan.Joe seems to be the unknowing victim of Dyaln's plan. you get help but forgive his character for what he did. I could you not forgive Jack, he just to awesome not too. I would love to have some POV from Dylan to see what's going on in his head. There were a lot of situations in this book where I was like OMG why is Charley doing that. Cash has some tough times in this story too but it just shows us how strong Cash is.The ending was a crazy cliffhanger. It leaves a lot of questions as to what happens next. I can't wait to read the next.Loving Charley:Loving Charley is the third and last book in the Full Circle series. The books can not be read as standalones. They mus be read in order. Finding Charley left with a cliffhanger and Loving Charley picked up right there. Finding Charley left me really worried about the fate of Cash, Charley, and Dylan. Cash is definitely Charley's knight in an F250 and a pair of Carhartts.I really felt that the Charley really grew in this book, she came full circle. Charley finally came clean with everything that happened with Dylan. The way her parents reacted to the news seemed to be a very real reaction. I really loved how Cash and Charely's relationship progressed in this story. My favorite line in the book is, "I can't move forward without forgiving him, and neither can he." It's a reminder that in life we must forgive to be able to move forward. I loved how the character action in this story were very believable.I am sad to see the series end but I enjoyed reading it. Reading the Full Circle series has a great journey. I can't wait to see what Casey Peeler writes next.

Loved it an you will too. 1-click By Bethzaida Diaz This were my first books from Casey Peeler, and I have to say I am completely in love with this series.This is an of the books good old love story, it is set between high school and college year of out min characters and is good story, good writing, and has some strong ass chicks in it as well as some fine looking country boys, and north guys too.There are your fair share of really bad boys in this story, that put our main characters, Charley and Cash, to the ringer. Something happens to Charley and she is not talking and she forces Cash not to tell either, but that boy is there for her every step of the way while she gets herself to her true self.She leaves behind her town to try to find herself at college, danger lurks in the shadows and as she comes back to swimming her healing begins and she decides to fight back as she finds her friends threatened!!! Again Cash is there for her in everything she plans. This two are the ultimate love story. I wont say more, just that you will feel a lot of emotions run through your body once as you read, and that the Kluft girls, you would recognize your most close friends in each of them, I swear that happened to me and will happen to ya'll, They are amazing, true story.Casey Peeler glad this got to me, I certainly enjoyed them a lot.
