She'd had a crush on him since they were kids but never did anything about it. They would never date because he thought of her as if they were siblings. Kayla's best friend, Sabrina, had Kayla help her when she decided that she wanted to date Ben. Sabrina, along with their other friend, Jazz, treated Kayla terribly. Kayla was hiding from Jacob at a party in a closet. Ben found her and took her home. On the way, she confessed that she didn't want to kiss anymore boys because they were always sticking their tongues down her throat making it a traumatic experience for her. Ben let her know that they were all doing it wrong and someday it wouldn't be so bad.Kayla was clueless, immature, and very self-deprecating. It was difficult to read with all of her spazzy thoughts. She let her "friends" treat her bad and never really stood up to them. She tried, but only half-heartedly. They walked all over her. It was just too unrealistic for high schoolers. The maturity levels of the main female characters were of early middle schoolers. I didn't like that at all. There wasn't any realistic depth to the characters, including Ben. I could go on about what I didn't like but I have other things to do right now.The book was in Kayla's POV with poor editing at times.
