Be fluent, overcome your fear of English fluency By Allen This book is an effort from the author which shall be appreciated because it has covered almost every aspect fluency. The book addresses the fear and myths that limit people from being a fluent speaker such as the age and not being able to visit and English speaking country. I loved the method of S.M.A.R.T. goals setting, it really could bring a positive impact. The author has given some great tips like not spending a lot of time on Grammar in the beginning, I agree with this. Learner shall first learn phrases and conversation, so that he feels confident about speaking and then he/she can continue leaning grammar on the way. The methods are great and have been made to work. The start is when you start taking action!

By Neil Polon Imagine yourself speaking to a Native American or a friend who speaks well than you, you might find yourself struggling to express yourself the way they do and you wish your English command is as good as theirs -- I felt that way, too! So I’m just like thrilled when I found this book and read it. It literally became my new friend. The strategies and methods introduced are actually useful and effective. I tried doing the “shadowing” and the so-called scriptorium methods during my personal English communication practice. It feels awesome and I know I have been improving since then!

About the Author Joseph Woog was born in the 1940s in South Paul, MN to German and Croatian parents. From his youth, Joe was in the kitchen, where he learned to cook old-world food with modern conveniences. After joining St. George Antiochian Church in West St. Paul, MN the priest's wife took him under her wing and taught him traditional "Middle Eastern" cooking. Joe wasn't much of a purist so the recipes you find may not match exactly what one would see in Damascus or Allepo - that said, the flavors and presentation will! Joe was taken from us too early in life but his second cookbook: "My Favorite Middle Eastern Recipes" has been updated, revised and modernized by his son, Nick. Pictures, video and stories should give the reader insights, inspiration and hopefully a few laughs. While cooking from this book, don't be afraid to ask Joe to inspire or contact Nick to help you out. Cooking is an adventure and the ride is just as much fun as the arrival.

By Grady Harp Author Katie Ingram was encouraged to write this book because of her own now past habit of Binge Eating. As she state, `I tried time and time again to quit, but it seemed impossible. Some people suggested that WILL-POWER was what I needed to conquer Binge Eating Disorder; but from experience, I know that once the urge to binge comes, Will-Power has little or no effect because you behave like a robot; unable to control yourself until you gratify the urge to binge; after which the feeling of depression and disappointment takes over.'She opens her book with a discussion and definition of exactly what Binge Eating Disorder is: `Binge Eating Disorder has to do with overeating regularly. This is quite different from the normal overeating you do at yourself at a friend's pool party or birthday party once in a long while. When you have a habit of over feeding yourself regularly and you just can't seem to stop eating when the urge to binge comes, know that you have a Binge Eating Disorder. One bad thing about Binging is that you continue to eat even after your stomached is filled, you only stop when you start feeling sick. Each time you binge, you always have this depressed, disguising feeling about yourself as an aftermath. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Help for the binge eater By Doug Erlandson When Katie Ingram asked me to write a review of "Be Binge Free" I was happy to do so. Like Katie, I had suffered from Binge Eating Disorder. As I read her book, what she said rang true to my experiences during period I had the disorder. At the start Ms. Ingram notes that overcoming this disorder is not a matter of willpower (unlike what some have suggested). Binge Eating Disorder is an addiction, one of several food-related addictions (e.g., anorexia and bulimia). Those who suffer from this addiction do not plan to go on an eating binge, nor do they begin to eat with the intent of bingeing. Rather, once they start they eat compulsively and find themselves unable to stop.As Ms. Ingram explains, Binge Eating Disorder arises from a variety of causes, including depression, low self esteem, stress, negative turn of events, emotional or physical abuse, and extreme dieting. For me, it was the last of these causes. Having lost more than 100 pounds as a young adult, I had become a marathon runner. Eventually I became obsessed with weight and ate far less than I needed to adequately sustain me. Eventually my body rebelled. One day I inexplicably went on an eating binge. A couple weeks later the same thing happened. Before long, they were becoming more frequent, until at its worst, I binged three or four times a week.My story is just one of many. However, people with Binge Eating Disorder are not without hope. In the last three chapters of her book, Ms. Ingram provides helpful suggestions as to how to overcome Binge Eating Disorder and the temptation to continue the pattern of destructive eating. The reality is that Binge Eating Disorder can be overcome, as Ms. Ingram's personal story shows.

Hunter is not excited about the change but has no choice really. When she sees a help wanted sign in the window of the Veterinarian office, she is excited at the chance to work with animals. There is also the attractive boy Logan that she keeps running into as well as a few new friends from school that help make the transition easier for Hunter. Unfortunately, it seems like Hunter is having her fair share of bad luck and accidents, which feels like it may be on purpose.I am like the government in the respect that I like church and state (aka the books I read) to be separate from each other. I personally always try to avoid reading a fiction novel with religious themes or undertones for a lot of reasons that I won't get into. Well, color me shocked when I started reading this book to discover that it is not a teen paranormal story, but instead a book about good people doing the right things with God on their side will facing off against a corrupt man and his cult. Err, yeah. The only paranormal present was The Holy Ghost, if you get my drift. That being said, the book was not bad in any way and was well written with consistent characters, but it was in no way for me nor would I have read it if I had known how strongly religious it was. I think the perfect audience for the book would be young teen girls or older teens who like religious fiction.The book also had hints of Native American culture which I absolutely love. There were symbols, visions and dreams and I ate them up, but they were just a teaser because none of the concepts were fully developed. I thought Gus had the potential to be a big character and maybe fight some evil of his own, but his role was under played in the story.The book wrapped up the plot and even had an epilogue so I am very certain that it is a stand-alone title which is nice in a world of trilogies. There were a few things that I personally could have used more information on, but the book had enough to go on. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be something I enjoyed, liked, or loathed when I read the blurb. It was one of those books that was on the line. I am SO glad that I read it and I had absolutely no problem getting sucked in right away. I read it between a few sittings, when my kids would cooperate with me as it was one of those books you just have to know what’s going to happen.I can’t say that this is an “action packed” book but it is full of suspense. I was guessing from nearly the beginning of the book to nearly the end of the book. None of my guess were right nor were they even close. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat though needing to know what was going to happen and needing answers to questions that arose as I was reading.This book has a “sweet” romance between two teenagers. It just so happens that they are best friends and are almost partners in crime. Logan and Hunter befriend each other during Hunter’s first days in down. Little did she know that Logan was going to be the source of her learning the pieces of information she does. I enjoyed reading their “romance” between each other went no further then kissing and they still managed to have a good time when they spent time together. I appreciate in this book that their relationship wasn’t based around them wanting to have sex with each other.I laughed while reading and I sighed while reading. I might have grumbled a little bit while I was reading certain scenes. This is a book where emotions are plenty and are well placed. They feel true and not forced.Description and detail are definitely not lacking in this book. The scenery was described so well and sounded beautiful. There were a few places that I would love to make my relaxation areas. There was a little left to your own mind to figure out which is always enjoyable. It’s nice to have an idea what the characters look like but have their descriptions lack just enough to make each one fit your mind!This was a great story and I definitely recommend reading it! You won’t be disappointed!

There is a great sweet camaraderie between Hunter and Logan that is built through time and friendship. There are some wonderful twists and turns and the storyline sucks you in. Their adventures together make you laugh and smile as you really get to know their personalities through their actions and reactions to each other and what is going on around them.The romance that occurs between Logan and Hunter is sweet and slow building. These two begin as friends and sort of partners in crime and slowly discover their feelings for one another. What sets this romance apart from others in this genre is that this is a clean romance. By doing this we are seen a beautiful deep connection and intimacy but also that a book romance can grab your attention without involving scenes with sex.The characters draw you in and are wonderful to read about and see their views of things. The descriptive scenery keeps you in the here and now and helps you understand the characters and their thoughts.A wonderful sweet clean romance of friends who become more and are there for each other through lifes challenges as teens.

Hope in the next book Alex will make himself worthy of Liam's love because so far I have not been impressed with how he has treated Liam. He needs to prove himself to Liam and get a backbone. By FORMER Kindle Customer No one questions the pretenders on the boy/girl dates, but just being with another boy (who is rumored to be gay) automatically is guilty as charged with no chance for parole. Perhaps the teen years are too guarded to allow experimentation on who you like and who you love. Too often the choices are forced and are wrong for the person accused. Trying to disprove anything about sex and love is an impossible task, with only losers, often scarred for life or dead. If the gay and homeless suicide rate was compared to the annual death rate for teen drivers, no one would be driving or drinking. But it is OK to bully and beat on suspected gays just because you hate homosexuality? Why is the gay kid jailed for being beaten up, only to be raped and beaten more in jail? This book and the previous one do a great job of illustrating the problems caused by hate, but struggle to show the glories of love. The closet is not a safe place to hide, but it impossible to avoid opening the door at least occasionally, and risk all every time. Who is the stronger character? Liam, Tristan, Rick, Eric, Jacob, Rosa, Colin, or

What bothers me about this story is the stilted conversations between the characters. The author seems unable to form natural conversations There's maybe a handful of times in the entire story where he uses a contraction. Almost all conversations are like this: "I am sorry. I have been stupid.", instead of the more natural sounding "I'm sorry. I've been stupid." Also,the ending seemed incomplete. Does Alex come out to his parents? Maybe there will be a book three to continue the story. If so, there should have been a "to be continued" at the end.

A Woman's Life in Slavery By Robin Friedman Harriet Jacobs' (1813-1897) "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" is one of the few accounts of Southern slavery written by a woman. The book was published in 1861 through the efforts of Maria Child, an abolitionist who edited the book and wrote an introduction to it. The book had its origin in a series of letters Jacobs wrote between 1853 and 1861 to her friends in the abolitionist movement, notably a woman named Amy Post. Historically, there was some doubt about the authorship of the book and about the authenticity of the incidents it records. These doubts have largely been put to rest by the discovery of the letters.The book indeed has elements of a disguise and of a novel. Jacobs never uses her real name but calls herself instead "Linda Brent." The other characters in the book are also given pseudonyms. Jacobs tells us in the Preface to the book (signed "Linda Brent") that she changed names in order to protect the privacy of indiduals but that the incidents recounted in the narrative are "no fiction".Jacobs was born in slave rural North Carolina. As a young girl, she learned to read and write, which was highly rare among slaves. At about the age of 11 she was sent to live as a slave to a doctor who also owned a plantation, called "Dr. Flint" in the book.Jacobs book describes well the cruelties of the "Peculiar Institution -- in terms of its beatings, floggings, and burnings, overwork, starvation, and dehumanization. It focuses as well upon the selling and wrenching apart of families that resulted from the commodification of people in the slave system. But Jacobs' book is unique in that it describes first-hand the sexual indignities to which women were subjected in slavery. (Other accounts, such as those of Frederick Douglass, were written by men.) The book is also unusual in that Jacobs does not portray herself entirely as a hero but describes the nature of the steps she took to avoid becoming the sexual slave of Flint. Thus, when Flint subjected her to repeated sexual advances from the time Jacobs reached the age of 16, she tried to avoid him by beginning an affair with a white, single attorney with whom she had two children. When Flint's advances persisted, Jacobs formed the determination to try to secure her freedom.The bulk of the book describes how Jacobs hid precariously in a cramped attic for seven years waiting for the opporunity to secure her freedom. There are also accounts of her prior attempts to leave slavery, including a particularly harrowing account of several days in a place aptly named "Snaky Swamp."Jacobs describes her relationship with her grandmother, a free black woman who was probably the major inspiration of her life. She also describes well her love and concern for her children, conceived through the liasion with the white attorney.This book offers a rare perspective on American slavery as it affected women. It is also a testament, I think, to the value of literacy and knowledge as an instrument for winning and preserving free human life. 146 of 148 people found the following review helpful. Poignant By MarvelousMarla This autobiographical condemnation of the south's Peculiar Institution puts a face on the suffering of the enslaved. American history is full of accounts of slavery which tend to broad overviews of the institution, whereas this book is written by an escaped slave who does not flinch at sharing every detail of her miserable life. Unlike other narratives which distorted the slave's voice through the perspective of the interviewers/authors who were notorious for exaggerating the uneducated slaves' broken english, this book is largely Ms. Jacobs' own words. She was taught to read and write as a child by a kind mistress, so she was able to put her thoughts on paper with clarity that surprised many. Ms. Jacobs had an editor, but this book seems to be her unfiltered view of the world.It is one thing to hear about how slaveholders took liberties with female slaves, it is quite another to read in stark detail about women being commanded to lay down in fields, young girls being seduced and impregnated and their offspring sold to rid the slaveholder of the evidence of his licentiousness. The author talks about jealous white women, enraged by their husbands' behavior, taking it out on the hapless slaves. The white women were seen as ladies, delicate creatures prone to fainting spells and hissy fits whereas the Black women were beasts of burden, objects of lust and contempt simultaneously. Some slave women resisted these lustful swine and were beaten badly because of it. It was quite a conundrum. To be sure, white women suffered under this disgusting system too, though not to the same degree as the female slaves who had no one to protect them and their virtue. Even the notion of a slave having virtue is mocked. The author rejected the slaveholder's advances and dared to hope that she would be allowed to marry a free black man who loved and respected her. Not only was she not allowed to marry him, she was forbidden to see him or speak to him again.The author shows us the depth of a mother's love as she suffers mightily to see that her children are not also brought under the yoke of slavery. Though she was able to elude her odious master, she does take up with some other white man in hopes that he would be able to buy her freedom. Her "owner" refuses to sell her and tells her that she and her children are the property of his minor daughter. Her lover seems kind enough as he claims his children and offers to give them his name, and he did eventually buy them, though he failed to emancipate them to spare them from a life of forced servitude. Ms. Jacobs noted that slavery taught her not to trust the promises of white men. Having lived in town most of her life, Ms. Jacobs is sent to the plantation of her master's cruel son to broken in after she continues to refuses his sexual advances. She is resigned to this fate until she learns that her children -- who were never treated like slaves -- were to be brought to the plantation also. It is then that she takes flight.After enduring 7-years of confinement in cramped quarters under the roof of her grandmother's house, the author escapes to the North which is not quite the haven she imagined. Still, it is better than the south, and she makes friends who buy her freedom leaving her both relieved and bitter that she is still seen as property to be bought and sold like livestock. In New York Ms. Jacobs is reunited with her children and a beloved brother who'd escaped a few years ago while accompanying his master -- her former lover -- to the free states.There is no fairytale ending to this story because the author endures plenty of abuse and uncertainty even after she makes it to the North. She is hunted down by the relentless slaveowners who were aided by the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 and "The bloodhounds of the North." This is a wrenching account of this shameful period of American history, and should be required reading for all.

Her tale brings the light the terror of people who can take power and abuse, as well, as the compassion of a people who take care of each other. In her writings she not only explains her experiences but also weaves her true tale of other experiences of slavery. She explains the differences between a black male slave and a black female slave experience. Both horrid but very different with the same outcome trauma. Anyone interested in understanding slavery should take the time to read her story. Her story is avaliable for free or a few dollars- and believe me it will be worth your time in doing so.Before I stop writing, her writing is very visual and very well-written. She even explains how she learned to write so well.Read it!

Each page is one simple fact lifted from the headlines with no actual information or writing involved, and each sentence starts with "you gotta love the fact..." This is probably the worst "book" I've ever read it's amazingly awful and full of errors and bizzare assertions. Download it for a laugh

(Like myself) By Jenna Detrapani Not being one who would typically purchase an e-novella (or any novella, for that matter), I couldn't resist obtaining The Hidden Prince immediately upon its release. This is a superb origin story that retains the high level of quality in writing, characters and setting that already graces the pages of The Orphan Queen book series. Better yet, it is an origin story about the character we all know and love, Black Knife.One of my favorite things about this novella it that it brings out even more of the charming and complex personality that we discovered about Black Knife in the previously released full-length novel. It gives us a look into the background of the characters Lady Chey and Meredith... AND it also provides even more insight - from a different perspective - about the magic of the world. If you do not wish to be spoiled about *who* exactly Black Knife is, I would recommend that you read The Orphan Queen first and make the discovery as it was originally intended. BUT, The Hidden Prince can, by all means, be read before you dive into The Orphan Queen. It's a good sampler for newcomers of the stellar writing and world that makes up this series. And Black Knife at a younger age? *double win!* I cannot say more, for that would mean to spoil identities and The Orphan Queen. Just know that many of the items that were hinted at in The Orphan Queen are addressed in this first prequel installment.(Oh, and did I mention that there is a two-chapter excerpt for the final full-length book, The Mirror King? Yes, as a matter of fact, there IS. And it is TANTALIZING.)I am hooked and am guaranteed to be purchasing each new novella in this prequel as they are released.(Perhaps we will receive more excerpts, as well!)

This just makes me need The Mirror King even more By Christina @ Books and Prejudice I don't generally buy e-novellas, but I had to get Hidden Prince for basically all the reasons Jodi Meadows posted on twitter earlier. And it was so worth it!The Hidden Prince is the story of Tobiah just before he first becomes black knife. Getting in his head, wow. He always seemed so grumpy in The Orphan Queen, but as black knife he was so different and much more himself. The Hidden Prince (and I expect the rest of the novellas) explore his trials with King Terrell, a father he never seems to get along with very well.Not to mention, the first two extremely evil chapters of The Mirror King are included at the end of the novella! The novella did satisfy the craving somewhat, but it created so much more! I need the next novella and the next book!

By Dreams Review originally posted on my blog: Once Upon A Dream Books.So, you ask yourself, why is she dedicating a full post for a mini-review for a novella?Especially since - and this is a not a big secret at all - this blogger tends to hate novellas?What a waste, you say?But that's just it, it is not a waste at all, I really loved this novella.Overall, in respect of the The Orphan Queen plot line you only get a few pieces you might not have otherwise inferred from book one. Presentation matters, however, because it's not really what you learn or what happens, but how things unfold in Tobiah's characterization that really make this short story wonderful.While reading The Orphan Queen, I fell in love with Tobiah. He was a wonderfully complex character who struggled between doing what he wanted, being the prince his father demanded him to be, and living up to his country's expectations of what a prince should be like.I spent a lot of time imaging what happened to him, how did he become the young man he was becoming. I needed, not just to know, but to see it. So I was really happy to hear about these novellas. This Prince Tobiah was not my Prince Tobiah from The Orphan Queen, but you could see elements, little teasers about the man he was going to become.And the wonderful friendship between James and him? Still there, and still wonderful. I'm really looking forward to watching their relationship grow stronger as the novellas continue on.WORDS TO LIVE BY"Being sheltered isn't the same as cowering. One is forced upon me. The other would be choice."OVERALLI really cannot recommend this series enough. It is one of my top 2015 reads of the year so far and I fully expect it to remain in the top three all year.Read it.Read the novella. Read book one. It will teach you how to see God's will and purpose for your life, when you just can't figure out where you are going. It will teach you how to be stable in your walk with the Lord, no matter what circumstances surround you. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to know how to be still, and know that He is God.

Tasty Home Made Recipes By Imad Ur Rahim This book is very good especially for men like me who have been abroad for so many years, and crave for home made food. In fact I wish that this book had been published earlier, so I could try out some of these varied recipes. Apart from the recipes, this book has some interesting information along with some great pics and I would infct recommend it as a coffee table book also!
