About the Author Heather Sunseri was raised on a tiny farm in one of the smallest towns in thoroughbred horse country near Lexington, Kentucky. After high school, she attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and later graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting. Always torn between a passion for fantasy and a mind for the rational, it only made sense to combine her career in accounting with a novel-writing dream. Heather now lives in a different small town on the other side of Lexington with her two children and her husband, Mike, the biggest Oregon Duck fan in the universe. The pace of the story was spot on, and her character depth was perfect. I really enjoyed learning more about her characters from Lexi and Jack's story in Volumes 1-3. YES, you can safely say I am ready and waiting to see what Heather Sunseri has up her sleeve next - I know I won't be disappointed!

Hejduk Jonas sends Kyle to Costa Rica to investigate strange reports about children and to see if he can find what happened to two shipments of trackers that went missing. There, he meets Raven, the American daughter of a couple who run a humanitarian camp, who witnessed a murder the previous year, but can not remember what happened that night. After Raven is almost kidnapped, Kyle is shocked to find she has a tracker in her neck. He calls in reinforcements and is soon joined by Lexi, Jack, and Jonas. Raven must remember that horrible night in order to find out just what is going on in the little town of La Fortuna.Like the first Mindspeak book, Tracked starts out a little slow, but once it really gets going, it doesn’t slow down again. It was left completely open for additional books (and I do hope the author writes more!), but the story can end here. It occurs in the same “world” as the first three Mindspeak books, not long after the end of the third one, with some of the same characters, but in a totally different setting. It is more or less able to be a standalone book (it is surely better having read Mindspeak, Mindsiege, and Mindsurge first, however). I definitely recommend this book for Mindspeak fans and anyone who enjoys young adult books.

We are introduced to some new characters and also some of the older characters. The story is told from Raven and Kyle's point of view. I have enjoyed reading this series and can't wait for another book, hopefully I won't have to wait to long.

La Famila is based on Lawrence Aguirre's own experience growing up in East Los Angeles during the thirties. Each of the characters in this collection of interwoven stories in their own way is living out their lives in quiet desperation, but in the murmurs of the night, they pray for redemption. Each story is connected to the body of work by the tears and laughter, by the quicksand, of their human condition. The character Liberada, who appears in all of the stories, is based on the author's grandmother and her life. It is she who holds the stories together, as she did la famila. In spite of his grandmother’s tears of blood, the author says he knows about love simply because his grandmother gave him a shot at the impossible dream. Being fortified by her love, he now needed to bring to life her spirit, her soul, and her will to survive. I opened the door to my mind and the memories of long ago came at me like a herd of wild stallions. About the Author Lawrence Aguirre was born in 1933 in East Los Angeles, California. He was raised and nurtured by his grandmother in a neighborhood that was one hundred percent Mexican. He lost his eyesight when he was twelve years old and was sent to the California School for the Blind in Berkeley, California. He attended the University of California at Los Angeles, majoring in history and philosophy. Upon graduating, he got married and moved to Venice, California, where he raised his family. He now lives in Santa Cruz, California, where he continues to write. This is his second book. His novel Blind Chance, loosely based on his own life in the counterculture of the sixties, was published last year.

The book could just have been easily been named, La Barrio as the author brings to life the colors, rhythm and vibrancy of life in the latino ghetto. The characters come to life with vibrancy so vivid that you feel you know them -- that they have been your neighbors or your own family. The book is masterly written with the restrained poetry of an elegant writer who is deeply familiar with the subject matter but also has great love for the people and their community.A page turner -- should be on everyone's reading list -- for an intimate portrait of life in the barrio.

By Charlene Mattson I got the book for free through Audible for the purposes of reviewing itThe book itself is a fairly normal sort for its type-that is, YA fantasy and it was a bit too young for my tastes, but certainly the younger me would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Rich details and an interesting take on dragons made for a good listen.The audio book is also well put together with a great narrator.I would recommend this for anyone looking to get their tweens into fantasy or for tweens/young teens already into fantasy, particularly if they enjoy things like Patricia C. Wrede (Enchanted Forest Chronicles in particular) or things like Bruce Coville's Unicorn series (can't remember the name of it now).It wasn't precisely my cup of tea, but it is definitely perfect for its audience, so well worth picking up through Audible or wherever else it may be sold.

His aesthetic has been much-imitated, a testament to the inspirational grip they exert on their viewer. Key aspects of his style are instantly recognizable to even the casual fine art enthusiast: his penchant for chiaroscuro lighting amidst dark backgrounds; the feverish intensity of his subjects, who are often shown seemingly in action rather than composed; and the recurring use of Biblical and historical subject matter, not to mention an even more prolific output of portraits commissioned (including works commissioned by the Court of the Hague). The more educated viewer might also be aware of Rembrandt’s remarkably thick handling of paint, which often seems to protrude from the canvas rather than invite a recession into space (in the Renaissance tradition.) However one recognizes a Rembrandt, however, the strength of his talents is such that encounters with his work leave an indelible imprint. That said, Rembrandt’s fame derives not only from the hundreds of paintings he completed (his output is believed to total as many as several hundred works); Rembrandt is also remembered for his profligate spending habits, which famously resulted in him filing for bankruptcy in 1656. If “baroque” connotes excess, it is most appropriate that Rembrandt stands as the most famous painter of the Baroque age, as he lived well beyond his means. His life and career stand in almost complete disharmony, with a vast discrepancy existing between the care and deliberateness with which he conducted his painting, juxtaposed against the careless financial decisions he made -decisions that left him altogether impoverished at the time of his death in 1669. Financial ruin was not the only pitfall to hinder Rembrandt, as he also suffered from childhood deaths to three of his children, as well as the premature death of his wife, Saskia, in 1642. In this respect, Rembrandt lays claim to being one of the great success stories of Dutch art, yet also a man who was often beset with tragedy, of his own making and otherwise. This could in fact be the reason for weight gain among many other things, especially in woman. I have a background in health and nutrition and I really enjoyed this quick read. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year and a half ago. I bought this book to help me learn more about this disease and what it's all about. I found out that there are even people in my family who had it, and didn't know it! It probably explains why most of us are overweight, too. There is tons of valuable information that most doctors don't even know about it !

I loved the White Aura series by this author and was so excited to find out there would be a series that revolved around Sadie Tabors. She’s a character that didn’t get much of the spotlight in that series but in this one she gets her turn to shine…and kick some serious butt! This book is well written, exciting, intense at times, and even a little steamy. You don’t have to read the White Aura series to understand what’s going on in this book, it works well as a stand alone…but I still recommend you read that series because it’s awesome as well. If you’re looking for a paranormal story with a strong female lead with ‘a$$ kickery ways’ then this is definitely the book for you! I am REALLY looking forward to book 2.

Cradit I always liked Sadie from TWA series, so when I heard she was getting her own series, I was curious. While there are plenty of similarities (and familiar faces) to the preceding series, Sadie's book has a fire and passion unique to her character. Sadie is hardened by her experiences, and ruthless in her justice. If you're used to the sweetness of Livvy, you might be in for a shock... but I love badass chicks, so for me it was the best kind of shock. I'm glad to hear Tatum is already working on the next book, because I definitely need to know what happens next (no spoilers, but Sadie is on the verge of something incredible).

Due to a tragedy in her past she has left home and made it her life to rid the world of evil paranormal creatures. Her family finds her and her Grandmother asks her to come home. Due to her powers she is the target of The Six - the six original sorcerers.The characters in this book were great. Even though Sadie fights evil she has a tender side. She will do anything to protect her family, friends and her first love Aiden. The secondary characters add to the paranormal relm of this book. The action and magic is non stop in this book. Therefore you will keep turning the pages. It ends in a cliffhanger right when the major action starts to happen and I can't wait to see what happens next.If you like paranormal action, fun, and a small dose of romance and a big does of bad a$$ chicks then I highly recommend this book. I was given a gift copy in exchange for an honest review.
