Kessler is a man of honesty and wisdom and holds the ultimate love for his wife and family By Terri Sheets This man has had one hell of a life—building some of Washington and Oregon's prominent structures over several decades. He and his family found a way to balance work and home life through all of the ups and downs and managed to remain a tight family unit. Mr. Kessler is a man of honesty and wisdom and holds the ultimate love for his wife and family. We could all learn a lesson or two from his story. Two thumbs up. This book is a good read for both men and women and for anyone who would like a taste of Washington history.

Very good By Jude ~4/5This series is definitely taking a darker turn than her others, and more than I expected.We meet Aki’s fiancé, and then Aki goes to a vampire ball. Aki leaves Kana and Jin behind, for good reason, but they mess that up. The vampires are trying to work behind Aki’s back. He handles it rather well, in really the only way he can. And then we get another cliffhanger.I like Aki and Kana’s relationship. I’m intrigued to find more out about their past. I like how serious their thrall/vampire relationship is turning out to be, and intrigued to find out how much darker the series gets with it. This volume was violent, and I liked that. The cliffhanger has me interested, but only mildly. We’ll see what happens with this new threat.This seems like a much more mature series than Shouoto’s other two, and I like it. The artwork is harder, mature and more intricate. By Vivek Singh Guy has done a terrific job narrating his inspirational, heart-warming story about the trials, tribulations and successes of his life. Anyone including myself can pick up this book and learn from his hardships and successes. I particularly found the story of his mother's battle with heart failure to be insightful and how such an event can shape one's character. A great read that's highly recommended no matter where one finds himself or herself on the journey of life.

An eye-catching cover that leads to an intriguing story By Robert Fisher I was buying another manga when I looked up and the cover of Chaika: The Coffin Princess caught my eye. A young woman using a coffin as a backpack suggested that this might be something worth reading even though I usually don't care for the blood-and-thunder manga; I prefer either a romantic comedy like Hana Kimi or a sexy farce like Monster Musume. We have our title character who is on some sort of quest and she recruits the help of the young and unemployed saboteur Toru and his taboo-minded sister Akari (who either wants to sleep with her brother, kill him, or both). There are other people determined to stop Chaika from gaining what she seeks, but it's impossible at this point to say if they are the bad guys or if Toru and Akari are on a sucker's mission. The cover may have been the initial attraction, but the story proved able to draw me in enough to want to see what happens in the next volume. All in all, this first volume gets the series off to a promising start.

By Fusionwavestarprism Every morning, Akari, Who's Toru's Sister, Always tries to get him up to go look for work. He just lays around on his bed in boredom and sleeps all day long and tells her "If he works, He loses". Akari insists that he goes and brings back breakfast by striking her weapon into his pillow, He then tells her he will try to but he has no money.After Toru leaves Delsorento, He walks into a forest to find some food, All of a sudden he hears sounds nearby and draws out his blade, Out of the bushes a Unique silver haired girl carrying a coffin on her back shows herself. Her name's Chaika who's all by herself on her way to Delsorento, But doesn't know the way, Toru tells her if she can get him food he will show the way. Before they shake hands on the deal a Evil Unicorn from out of nowhere shows itself at them. When Chaika opens up her coffin she takes out something that looks like a long range gun with a trigger, (You will also read about true purpose of Chaika's Coffin) She then tells Toru that she can defeat it, Toru likes Chaika's approach so much that he even joins in on the battle and uses a secret power he has not used for a long time to give Chaika the time she needs to chant the spell to destroy the Unicorn on impact.After they arrive in Delsorento, The both of them enjoy a well deserved meal because Chaika has the money. While eating, Toru forgets about Akari, Who shows up to see what progress he's made since morning. Akari even makes a crazy outrageous sexual joke about Chaika in front of people that leaves them speechless. When Chaika and Toru go their own separate ways, You can tell that Chaika wants to stay with him as she turns around to look at him one final time.After reading the main story, You will read about some of Chaika's past in Episode 0 called "The beginning Of The End" Which you will really enjoy to read.I really enjoyed reading every page of this brilliant Manga. The entire storyline flows well with the characters that you will come across along with great artwork, I really liked the two page artwork of Chaika destroying the evil Unicorn in one blow.These books are new but doesn't come factory sealed.Ages 13 and higher can read this.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Very Compelling Book By George Cotkin This is a very compelling book. It takes us into the troubled life of Skye, a young woman who has not been in touch with her birth mother (Eva) in many years. Skye is in her teens, navigating life away from home and her foster parents, finding friends and love, and trying to reconnect with Eva (a woman of parts, with plenty of her own issues). We experience Skye's highs and lows, how experience often does not equate with reality. Some of the action takes place in the therapeutic relationship that Skye has with Alix (who has her own issues of grief and longing). This book does not offer easy answers, preferring instead to dwell in complexities nicely rendered. The character of Skye is especially well-drawn, which must have been a challenge since she is not an "special" person (marked by uncommon genius, odd quirks). This is a first novel, so it comes with some minor creases in the folds of narration and not all of the characters are handled with equal deftness. But the novel succeeds in many ways, and it augers a very promising career for this writer.

College freshman, Skye, away from her foster parents who raised her, seeks to find her mother who had abandoned her. When Skye loses herself (dissociates), she looks for help from Alix in the university's counseling center. Interaction between Skye and Alix, rotating point of view characters, plus their separate quests build tension and suspense throughout the novel. Both Skye and Alix are well developed, complex characters. Character development is also interesting for Skye's mother and foster parents as well as her college friend, Matt. Matt is such a good friend that I sometimes wondered if such a late teenager could exist, and then enjoyed thinking, yes he's possible. The college atmosphere--e.g., dorm life, the philosophy class, half-listening to a lecture while preparing for a test next hour, the coffee shop, the run for pizza, the counseling center--is a main character in this novel. For a first novel, pace and the gradual building of tension are very well done. Each scene includes fun and telling details for all 5 senses. I hated to have the book end.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. couldn't put it down By A. marquez i just read this book last weekend and couldn't put it down. i had to know what was going to happen to skye and axil too, for that matter. the wonderful descriptive writing is a joy to read, and it is a book you will think about, long after you have read it. we can find ourselves throughout the novel. and i certainly hope ms. axelroth will write us another book to enjoy!

About the Author Georgia Verble Herren is the author of Where Angels Walked and the cookbook Hey, Mom, What's for Supper? She was born and reared in Livingston, Tennessee, and resides with her husband, Herman, in Clinton, Tennessee. She credits her strong lifetime interest in the art of cooking to her mother who had a reputation as one of the best cooks in Overton County, Tennessee. While clinging to her mother's apron strings at the age of five, Georgia learned to mix and shape dough for biscuits and then prepare other food servings. She preferred learning to cook in the Goolsby kitchen over playing with dolls. Georgia believes cooking and dining with family and friends should always be enjoyable experiences. Besides having many wonderful recipes, it has very helpful cooking hints and advice. These recipes have been used for many years. The Salmon Patties, Crock-Pot Fried Chicken, Meal Gravy, Country Fried Potatoes, Quick n' Simple Southwestern Chili, the Jam Cake and Pumpkin and Cream Cheese Roll Up are just a few examples of delicious recipes found in this cookbook. Every cook will be able to find recipes for many delightful meals.

I have tried several of these recipes already and they are delicious. I have several more tagged to try soon. There are lots of tips and hints throughout the book to help improve ones cooking skills. I love Hey Mom, What's for Supper and plan to give copies to family members for Christmas. Great addition to anyone's cookbook collection. Happy Cooking!

You know when you laugh so hard, that your jaw feels like it might just snap, you get cramps in your stomach, ribs and chest because you physically cannot breathe, this book did that to me on EVERY SINGLE PAGE, I highlighted on EVERY SINGLE PAGE and will return to this book over and over again!!Rachel Van Dyken has once again written a book that is absolutely brilliant for the soul, she really is the best of the bunch!Max..... Oh sweet baby Jesus! This guy is without a doubt the funniest male character to grace the book world. He is an absolute trip! He is sexy, confident and has a beautiful heart too! But he is also feeling a little deflated since his best friend Milo got married. So what better way to overcome this 'down in the dumps' feeling than his friends entering him into a 'Batchelor' style reality TV show, with 25 women all looking for love, on an island? Yeah, you sure can bet that is going to be one epic adventure.From the first doctor visit (LMAO) to giving all of the women their own nickname (LMAO) you are pulled into this story of humour, heart and so much happiness.Max meets one of the 25 girls, Becca, and with her, he has totally met his match!!Becca is on the show for one reason....to win the money. That is until she see's Max as much more than some 'Batchelor'. They have beautiful chemistry from the get-go and make a pact to win this show together. She is funny, gorgeous and definitely the girl to keep up with someone as outrageous as Max.Appearances from the characters from the first book in the series Reid, Milo, Jason and Colton gave this book the beautiful friendship sparkle that book one held. You will also enjoy new characters, including a lizard, a goat and the seven dwarfs LMAO!!! It's so damn good!This book made me laugh, it made me swoon and it gave me a beautiful HEA. I cannot praise Rachel Van Dyken enough, she is without a doubt one of my go-to authors and I have loved EVERYTHING about this series so far. I cannot WAIT to see who is next! In an attempt to get Max off his ass, find a purpose, and to get a little peace for themselves, his dear friends have gone behind his back and signed him up to be the next Bachelor on Love Island. So he is thrust on board a plane and then on an island with twenty five girls vying for his attention. And of course, the one that does catch his eye is Becca, a barista at the Starbucks near his home that has already shot him down once.Becca is sassy, independent, smart and does not take crap from people. But she has a big heart and a bit of a savior complex. And soon she sees that Max could use a little saving. He and Becca have a rocky start, but soon find a common goal. and then develop a little bit of like and appreciation.I love Max, but I swear he exhausts me with his fast-paced, frantic flights of thought, and crazy comments and ideas. But at the the same time his sarcasm, silly humor, and over the top reactions make me smile and laugh. He is crazy, unfiltered, and cocky, but is also endearing, vulnerable, sexy, charming, and energetic. Max also has a lot of mixed feelings about his life since his best friend found true love: anger, feeling worthless, lost, fearful, and lonely. So he is all over the place. But underneath it all is a man looking for a purpose and something to latch onto.Becca is a good straight woman. She can keep him in line, but also can appreciate his goofiness and quirks. She was only on Love Island for the money. They never expected to fall in like and certainly not love. They both have their fears and insecurities that hold them back and cause some doubts.It was a wild and crazy ride with shenanigans, competitions, tricks, games, mean cray cray girls, brotherly revenge and other trials and tribulations. There were twists, conflicts, erratic behavior, and surprise guests of both the human and animal kind. It is like the Bachelor meets Survivor with a comedic twist.Can these two navigate the pitfalls of Love Island and end up together or will they end up back home as singles?This was a total slapstick romantic comedy and you have to just go with it and enjoy the ride. This one might have been crazier than the first book. It was completely tongue in cheek, over the top, frantically paced. Oh Max--he is just something else....and Milo, Colt, Jason, and Reid just love to stir the pot. I love this tight knit group of eccentrics that taunt and torture each other. Add some loony ladies, an oompa loompa show host, some animal friends, prize money, a little alcohol and deydration, and let the insanity take over. I cannot wait for Reid and Jason's books. They have really doled out some challenges to their friends and it is certainly time for pay back.

A must read By JG ~ Jezabell Girl & Friends #SaveMaxOhI love this series so much, I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Thank you, thank you, thank you Rachel Van Dyken for bringing Max to life and delivering him to our e-readers.I thought Colton's story was funny but Max surpassed my expectations as he unleashes his own brand of quirkiness on the story. Page after page brought tears to my eyes and they weren’t just tears of laughter but also pain, pain that is mostly endured by Max’s poor brother, Reid. If you thought he'd recovered from Grandma then you are sorely mistaken. What fascinates me though is how Max and Reid didn't kill themselves before the age of 10! If you've ever had a sibling prank played on you you will know what I mean when I say multiply it, tenfold, and you will understand what Reid and Max put themselves through!This story was again brilliantly written. The comic capers flowed beautifully throughout the story as Max, plus one or two other series favourites, try to survive Love Island and to win the ultimate prize but will the winner choose Max or the money?!From goats to geckos, this story brings its own brand of happiness to your life as Max, the ultimate bachelor, tries to find his HEA in the arms of his Starbucks girl.Although I’m firmly Team Max for this instalment, my heart ultimately belongs to Reid and I can’t wait to get my teeth into more of his delicious charactor!Netgalley ARC
