Wells Collecting: Axis: Revolutions #1-4This slim companion volume to Avengers & X-Men: Axis should've been collected with main event omnibus. had it been collected, these stories would have filled out the events of Axis with a bit of a wider scope. Even with the larger Axis volume at hand, Revolutions just doesn't offer much new material that justifies it as an additional purchase. If you're a Marvel complete-ist or a if you really enjoyed the Axis event, then this book may be a good fit for you.The book collects a series of vignettes that show various heroes and villains in the midst of the Axis inversion spell. Spider-Man has to attempt crowd control in a world gone mad. An epic battle occurs between Nightcrawler and newly moral Sabretooth. Thor goes on an epic bender. Shadowcat robs banks, Iceman reinvents himself as a dark-knight style "hero." Finally Doom begins democratic reforms in Latveria.I liked the stories, I just think they would've been better in a larger collection where the stories could add flavor to the main event. As it stands, this book is seasoning without a meal.

Pruitt, quickly picks up where previous novel "Instruction" leaves off. Following 6 months of separation, Namir has traded his highly sought after accounting partnership for his new endeavor of owning a night club with his brother. Taylor has spent the last 6 months partying and trying to forget Namir. Both are drawn back to each other, which is now possible since Taylor is no longer Namir's client. It did slightly break my heart, the amount of "experience" each, (especially Namir) has gained in their time apart. The well written erotic theme is continued in this second book of this series, with more emphasis on their relationship and the families role in that relationship. I have continued to enjoy this series and continue my rating of 5 fangs. Since this story also ends in what I feel is a cliff hanger, I really hope there is another book to come.***Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock***

Reviews from the Heart Review By Julie This is book two in the series and needs to be read in order.Demonstration starts 6 months from the end of Instruction. Taylor & Namir were pulled apart by the powers that be.Namir was a very eager student and since his teacher was no longer available, he decides to go elsewhere to get the education he needed.Namir decides to also find a way to get Taylor back. His take on how to do this is very interesting. Namir is a very confident sexual being with ALOT of control. So in Demonstration, it is Namir's family (father) who isn't happy with their pairing. See how Namir handles this from his VERY traditional family.I did like the idea of a man that comes into his own as an alpha male. The powerful, independent, noncommittal woman awakens the beast in an very in-experienced adult man. These are very easy. quick reads and worth opening up.

In the second book we jump ahead serveral months. The two main characters have tried to go on with their lives but the could not get the other charácter out of their mind and heart. In this book the student becomes the teacher which I found wonderful. No mater what split them up in the first book they each have put their foot down and plan a future with each other. This book was as fast pasted as the first book. I can't wait until the third installment come out.Our Blog was given this book in Exchange for an honest review.

A luminous YA love story that evokes Judy Blume's Forever for a new generation.

Sarah—Bean to her friends and family—is an aspiring astronomer and champion mathlete. She lives behind her beloved telescope, with her head in the stars and her feet planted firmly on the ground. For as long as she can remember, she's also lived in the shadow of her beautiful older sister, Scarlett.

But after a traumatic end to the school year, Sarah goes to Cape Cod for the summer with her family, determined to grow up. It's there that she meets gorgeous, older college boy Andrew. He sees her as the girl she wants to be. A girl like Scarlett. He thinks she's older, too—and she doesn't correct him.

For Sarah, it's a summer of firsts. Before she knows what's happened, one little lie has transformed into something real. And by the end of August, she might have to choose between falling in love, and finding herself.

Fans of Jenny Han and Stephanie Perkins are destined to fall for this romantic and heartfelt coming-of-age novel about how life and love are impossible to predict.

Between Us and the Moon, by Rebecca Maizel

From School Library Journal Gr 9 Up—Sarah has always been fine with living in the shadow of her sister, Scarlett, who has a larger-than-life persona. Between tracking the Comet Jolie and her boyfriend, Tucker, Sarah hardly notices that it is not exactly normal to be over-obsessed with science and to make handy lists for everything in one's life. She didn't even realize that Tucker has been spending less time with her. When he breaks up with her for one of the most popular girls in school, life seems unbearable. Sarah welcomes the opportunity to go with her family to Cape Cod and spend the summer with her Aunt Nancy. Here, she is determined to finally grow up, be more like her sisiter, and make her own choices. At the beach, while Sarah is channeling her "inner Scarlett," she meets Andrew, a gorgeous college boy. Soon, one little lie grows into a cacophony of problems. By the end of the summer, the protagonist is teetering between finding herself and falling in love. Maizel's writing is clear and concise, and has enough witty humor to keep pages turning. Readers will relate to Sarah and how her bad decisions lead to consequences that keep piling up around her. VERDICT With its themes of confidence and discovering one's true self, this summer romance is a great choice for teens.—Brittney Kosev, Dave Blair Elementary School, Farmers Branch, TX

Review “The romance between Sarah and Andrew is what first love is meant to be. A fine summer fling for a satisfying summer read.” (Kirkus Reviews)“With its themes of confidence and discovering one’s true self, this summer romance is a great choice for teens.” (School Library Journal)

From the Back Cover

It's easy to watch the world from afar. But to fall in love you have to live in it.

Ever since Sarah was born, she's lived in the shadow of her beautiful older sister, Scarlett. A budding astronomer, Sarah's days are devoted to math club and the boy she's loved since kindergarten, Tucker. Her nights are spent observing the vast universe through her Stargazer 5020.

Then Tucker breaks Sarah's heart, and she goes to Cape Cod for the summer with her family, ready for something big in her life to change. She doesn't want to live in the shadows anymore. She wants to be someone who shines. Someone like Scarlett.

She doesn't expect to meet Andrew. Gorgeous, college boy Andrew. Andrew pulls Sarah out from behind her telescope. He sees the girl she wants to be.

For Sarah, it's a summer of firsts. A summer of blazing comets and shooting stars. Before she knows what's happened, one little lie has transformed into something real. And by the end of August, she might have to choose between falling in love and finding herself.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The perfect summer read! By Breanna & Lacey When I read this book in January, it was probably one of the hardest books I've ever had to write a review for. I can't recall the last time I felt so jerked around by a book, or the last time I was so genuinely conflicted about my feelings toward a book. How I felt was actually kind of ironic, because this book was actually sort of centered around conflict and being jerked around.Bean (or Sarah, as her birth certificate says) is silly and star-brained. She's literally obsessed with astronomy and her telescope, and she has been all her life. She has a best friend who loves it just as much, and they spend a lot of their time together looking up at the stars. The best part is that recently, he stopped being just her friend and became her boyfriend and as far as she's concerned, things are perfect. They hold hands, look at the stars, kiss, talk about the future, he knows her better than anyone else. It's great. For like, a few pages, at least, until he's acting all weird and says he needs to tell her something and I just knew it was about to blow up in her face but she had no idea.Of course, they're teenagers! Her boyfriend isn't wrong for wanting to break up with Bean. If anything, she's kind of part of the problem. She's too wrapped up in her comet observation to realize what's happening until it's way, way too late. The break up devastates her, though. And it infuriates her. She loses her boyfriend and her best friend in one fell swoop. There's more than just that going on in Bean's life, though. She also has a sister named Scarlett who's beautiful and graceful. She's got blonde hair, a nice body, and she's an absolutely phenomenal ballet dancer. She casts a hell of a shadow, and Bean feels like she's always trapped in it.The rift between the sisters was obvious to me almost immediately, but so was something else: Scarlett loves her little sister. She really, truly loves her so much that she pretends to be interested in the things that she likes, asks her questions about her hobbies, tells her the lame stuff she does is cool, and always puts forth effort to do things for her and spend time with her, even if some of them are tiny things that Bean doesn't notice. Unlike most older, spotlight-hogging sisters, I loved Scarlett and how much she adored Bean.Bean, however, does not see that Scarlett loves her. She's an awkward, socially inept, self-centered girl whose favorite thing to do is make assumptions. She assumes people think or feel things without asking them or giving them a chance to show themselves to her. She writes everyone off because she assumes they don't want to spend time with her and essentially lives in a self-made prison of isolation and loneliness. The weird thing, though? In spite of those things and the stupid stuff she spends this book doing, I really liked her.On top of her break up, it's time for the annual family trip to Cape Cod to stay with her rich, widowed Aunt Nancy. While her sister is out and about living her life, Bean is stuck inside without any opportunity to have one because, just like herself, her family assumes that she's going to stay the same and never wants to do anything new. The isolation, the weight of her breakup, and her bitterness toward her sister becomes too much, especially when she receives some infuriating news from home.In the spirit of true high school movies and the inspiration of being such a nerd, she decides to fix it the best way she knows how: science. Social science, to be exact. She steals her sisters clothes and little pieces of her personality to begin her "experiment", and parades around Cape Cod like one of the pretty, smart, interesting girls she wants so badly to be, in order to impress boys. Or maybe make friends. Or maybe even change her life? Or just to be noticed by her family. (The last one. It's the last one.)Her journey throughout this book is actually incredibly realistic, to the point that it literally makes me angry to even think back on it. I loved her most of the time, but sometimes I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake her like, "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!" in an affectionate, big sister kind of way. I wanted to hug her and teach her about the world - but only after I shook her. Seriously, at least 1/3 of this book was spent wanting to shake her.Bean's deception doesn't stop at clothes and personality. She lies a lot. Especially to a particular boy she meets on her trip, Andrew. He's honestly such an ideal human being. He's sweet but genuine, funny, flawed, damaged, realistic. He was a dynamic, amazing character to read about and I adored everything about him. Honestly.I didn't support the couple, knowing what I knew, but I loved their interactions. Everything about this seemed effortless and natural, and he really got her, as much as he could.I loved the ending of this book. I won't go into details but it was absolutely perfect. It was unexpected but beautiful. There were no disgusting cliches, ignoring problems, no pretty pink ribbons tied around s***** things and calling them great.Between Us and the Moon was real, vibrant, and absolutely beautiful. I loved it.

[Bean] finds the confidence to showcase her nerdy side in BETWEEN US AND THE MOON By Teen Reads Sarah --- Bean to her friends and family --- is an aspiring astronomer and champion mathlete. He thinks she's older, too --- and she doesn't correct him. For Sarah, it's a summer of firsts. Before she knows what's happened, one little lie has transformed into something real. And by the end of August, she might have to choose between falling in love and finding herself. The best part about a book is the personal connection one can build with the characters. We are immediately drawn to the character that exhibits similar characteristics to us only to realize later that the character displays characteristics we didn’t even realize we had. For me, that was the case with Bean in BETWEEN US AND THE MOON. Bean was a typical 16-year-old girl with her head in the clouds who suddenly crashed back down to earth over a summer. Although I haven’t crashed back down to earth yet (I like to think of it as a slow descent), Bean’s awkwardness and underlying hilarity resonated with me. However, throughout the book, Bean grows in ways we don’t expect her to when we first meet her. She finds parts of herself she didn’t know existed, something that I have begun to do as well. She finds the confidence to showcase her nerdy side as well as her confident and fierce side, which has inspired me to do the same. While books are often popular because they bring a sense of realism, they’re also appreciated because they bring about a sense of fantasy and mystique. Things happen in books that would never happen in real life. When was the last time you attended a school in Paris and found the love of your life? Or when was the last time you commanded a spaceship as a pre-teen? They provide a way to escape the mundane world for a little bit and experience things we would never be able to otherwise. The main reason I like BETWEEN US AND THE MOON is because of the way it balances realistic and fantastical aspects. There was a dose of reality in the way Bean’s character develops and it was very revealing to me, personally. However, the relationships Bean formed with others gives the book a whimsical twist, which I really enjoyed. Bean and Andrew’s relationship is something that could never happen in real life (a relationship with a boy will certainly not happen in my life), but it is fun to fantasize and imagine that it will happen. I like how this book made me forget about the world I live in and transported me to a magical land.SPOILER SECTIONI imagine a lot of people will have mixed feelings about how Bean lied about her age. Personally, I feel like she should have definitely put more thought into what she was doing. Andrew could have very well lost his job --- and jeopardized his entire career --- because of Bean. However, all characters have flaws, and Bean eventually realizes her mistake, which is the second best thing she could have done (aside from telling the truth in the beginning). The end. Oh my goodness. That was the most frustrating ending I have ever read. The whole time, we’re waiting for Bean to tell Andrew that she’s actually 16, not 18, and when she does, he runs away. RUNS. AWAY. That’s it! They have no interaction after that and we never get to see Andrew’s reaction after his initial shock (and what seemed to be disgust). And the eye contact they make a year later doesn’t count because that went nowhere, too. I may have thrown the book a few times in my frustration. But we’ve all done that, right?Reviewed by Pranshu A.

By Rhea @ Rhea's Neon Journal If I were to pitch Between Us and The Moon is one sentence it would be something like this: A summer romance filled with lies and stars.Sarah “Bean” Levin, scientist and stargazer, is sick of being in the shadow of her older sister Scarlett. After she’s dumped by her long time best friend turned boyfriend Tucker, she decides that she’s going to start working on The Scarlett Experiment—an attempt to observe how exactly her sister has all the boys wrapped around her finger. Sarah changes her clothes, her attitude, her speech and finds herself Andrew, the sweetest boy in Cape Cod, and finds the romance she wants.Except there’s one important thing she changes—her age.I didn’t agree with Sarah’s plan of lying to Andrew about her age. The constant lies and deception, and the absurd lengths she went to in order to keep the truth from coming out were off-putting and while I cheered for her and thought that she was one of the most real characters I’ve read all summer, I knew right away that she had a lot of growing up to do. She was enthusiastic about stars and the periodic table of elements and all things science, but I agreed that she had kind of set aside people and experiences and adventures and preferred to lock herself up all day to study or research. She was a follower, also, but we can’t possibly expect every person to be a natural born leader. What was more important to me, was that Sarah learnt from her mistakes and became a better person from them. Sarah was kind and trusting and of course, her summer love with Andrew was what I loved so, so much because I want me one of those Between Us and the Moon, by Rebecca Maizel

When the apple harvest draws near and the Greater’s engineered fruits become too much for one village to handle alone, reinforcements from neighboring villages are called upon. Having to choose between her best friend, whom she has no romantic feelings for, and mysterious newcomer Crew, Abby finds herself in the middle of a harvest that she had no intention of becoming a part of. She becomes involved in a situation that threatens the strict rule of the Greaters, and just might give the Lessers hope for a better tomorrow. But, can she help the Lessers without losing Crew? And if she chooses Crew, will she lose her best friend? Resist (Book 2): Abby Kelley returns home from the Greater city of Olympus to find that things in Orchard Village are bad, very bad. The Olympian Guard has taken over village affairs. The Lessers are being worked to the bone in the coldest winter Orchard has seen. Villagers are being dragged away for the slightest indication of what they call “resistance.” She needs to keep her head down and her mouth shut. But, it’s so hard to do when everything within you screams rebellion. Kyan is coming on strong, trying to convince her to take a chance on him. Shocking news of Crew’s activities in Olympus sweeps through the Villages. When Abby is taken away by the Olympian guard, Kyan sends word to Vesuvius for help. But, no one could have predicted their idea of help or what they might expect in return. Who will be left to pick up the pieces of Abby’s heart? Reclaim (Book 3): The Greaters have ruled over the Lessers since The Fall. They’ve taken Abby’s family. They’ve taken her friends. They’ve taken her hostage and threatened the villages. Enough is enough. Freedom is worth fighting for. Love is worth dying for. And the Lessers are done taking orders from the Greaters. Reclaim…the epic conclusion of the award-winning Harvest Saga. "The Harvest Saga has all the dystopian feels the reader in me desperately craves --a corrupt government, a fierce heroine, teenage angst and a whole bucket of boy trouble that will set you to purr." --Cheer Papworth, Band of Dystopian "The storyline and the story itself was brilliant, original and interesting. The story was so well imagined and nothing like I have ever read before." --Hayley Guertin, Hayley's Reviews "Hatred and injustice, love and determination. In this fresh, brand new dystopian world that compels you and demands your attention, feel empowered with every turn of the page and join the resistance." --Sara-Ann Strong, UtopYA Teen Blog

By goodem It isn't often that you come across an unbelievable dystopian fiction novel these days. The great ones and few and far between. I am happy to tell you, Casey Bond's The Harvest Saga is one of those great dystopian fiction novels. Bond gives us the story of Abigail Blue and the Lessers of The Orchard village. They are oppressed, serving the Greaters of the world. Taught not to want, but to work for those of higher station, the people of Orchard know they are considered less than equal in the world they live in-especially Abby Blue. One of the things that set Bond's story apart was her characters. Their emotions, beliefs, and fear leapt from the pages. You rooted her underdogs and wanted to punish her evil villans. Though at times, Bond did lapse between current day and this futuristic world she created, she astounded me with her story. It definitely ranks up there with recent high grossing dystopian fictions books such as Hunger Games or Divergent. Casey Bond is one talented writer that I will be reading a hell of a lot more of and I can't wait to get started. You should too with The Harvest Saga. Read Abby Blue's fight today.

I ended up reading all night and only put it down to eat and sleep. I was so happy to see that Abby's HEA was someone I hoped it would be. The author did a wonderful job of making all the characters come to life, even the bad guys. The pacing of the story was just right. I sometimes had the idea of what might happen, but not all the time. I won't say any more because I don't want to give out any spoilers. There are only a few series that I will read again and this is one. I felt as though I was in the story. That's the best kind of story to read.

A submissive woman propositions the Dom of her Dreams. Will her audacity pay off? Coach Rye didn't know it, but he had been starring in Naomi's fantasies for two decades. In every man she dated, she would look for her Coach's special mix of authoritative, demanding and caring attitude. For a while, she even believed she had found it. Now, alone and disillusioned in New York City, Naomi resolves to dig herself out of her funk. When she learns that her Dream Dom is single and looking, she decides to track him down, and make him an offer he couldn't refuse. Hopefully. The last thing Rye expected to happen, seated at the bar waiting for the game to start, was for a beautiful woman to walk up to him, arrange herself in a ridiculous semi-kneel on the bar-stool next to his, and ask him to take her as his submissive. He was shocked and outraged by some of the crazier claims she'd made - but also intrigued. And undeniably aroused. Will Rye agree to play along? Will reality live up to Naomi's life-long fantasies? And could her far-fetched proposition bloom into something more than a wild weekend? Download and read to find out! 'Whiskey and Rye' is a deeply emotional, edgy and erotic romance novel, featuring mature, complex characters, and told with a uniquely detailed, realistic voice. If you like your erotica hot and kinky, and your romance bold and true, you will absolutely love this book. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. If This Is Your Cup of Tea, You Can't Go Wrong With Anne Lois By PKW I have to admit that when I first started reading I was disappointed. I was expecting a continuation of Annie's story from "Lucky Bastard" and what happened when she got home.[As a side thought, I've also wondered about the coincidence of names - Anne & Annie. Hmmm, is it possible that there is some fact behind this fiction? We'll probably never know.]However, because of Ms. Lois's writing skills it wasn't long before I was completely drawn in to the new story line as a continuation of Coach Rye's story. As with her other novels, the character development is excellent, and the storyline is rich and utterly believable. This is eroticism at its best. The sex scenes are artfully portrayed and are not the focus of the story. Instead it is the thoughts, emotions, and interactions of the characters that drive the plot, creating characters that you can empathize with. It is that feeling of empathy that seduces the reader and makes for such a stimulating literary experience. My wife an I will keep reading everything from Ms. Lois that we can get our hands on (ordering the boxed set "The More the Merrier 2" soon, just for her one short story). We look forward to the continuing development of her characters as well as the growth of her writing skills and the potential for new story lines.Hopefully, at some point a publisher of "traditional" books (printed pages between covers - I still prefer them) will pick up on this skilled author and Ms. Lois will be able to give "50 Shades of Grey" a run for the money. She certainly deserves it.If you are a connoisseur of erotic literature with a little bit (or more) of a kink for D/s, I would highly recommend you read "Whiskey & Rye" and although it stands alone as its own story, you really should read "Lucky Bastard" first.

Lois has the amazing ability to pull her readers in and make them feel they are part of the action. This is a book you will love to read and follow as the characters initiate their journey together. These two have a wonderful combination of excitement, interest, friendship, teasing, protection, and yes...erotic and sexy scenes. If you don't fall in love with Coach Rye, check your pulse; something is seriously wrong. He is the perfect combination of dominance and caring. Naomi is a strong female character who knows who and what she wants. She's also smart, knowing a good thing when she see's it and brave enough to do everything in her power to make it hers. You will love watching the relationship of these two unfold as you turn from one exciting page to the next.I was very fortunate to have read this story when it first came to life. Now, I can't wait to read it again.

The sexuality starts as the author notes right from the start in a bar with an erotic proposal that, given Naomi's physical description, surprisingly takes the recipient a while to accept, After that the next few days are an exhausting period of discovery, passion, and physical stress attempting things from days gone by. The introspective dialogue is done in such a compelling manner that it makes you feel as though you were eavesdropping. These two are quite the couple in their own right but I would recommend for a more complete appreciation of how this all transpired to read Lucky Bastard, if not prior, at some point in the future. More juicy bits for your entertainment.

The Black community, as part of the American culture, has watched this country go through a multitude of changes. Many of the changes have been painful in nature and the Black community has the scars to prove it. While there are those that choose to ignore these scars, we as a Country do it at the nation’s peril. There are also those who would minimize the levels of racism that once existed and would make the argument that it no longer exists. It is clear that we have made significant progress in that regard. The best example is Barack Obama being the President of the United States. A quick look at both houses of Congress and the governing bodies in state and local governments will further reveal the lack of much needed progress. A Black president is something I would have never dreamed possible in my lifetime or that of my children. While I am appreciative of the progress that has been made, I am painfully aware of the human cost that was paid to get here, and we still have a long way to go. If we assess racial equality in the private sector in the same manner as suggested for government, we begin to see a greater lack of progress and the scars indicative of the inequality of the past. The suggested assessment will reveal a few Black men and women who have become successful in their own business ventures, as well as a small percentage who have reached senior positions in large companies. It should also be noted here that the number of Black professionals—doctors, nurses, lawyers, educators, and such—has also increased, but not nearly at the levels needed in the Black Community. The lack of positive numbers reflects the largest and most painful scars from the years of inequality. They will be the most difficult to heal. The purpose of this book is to help identify some of the problems that must be resolved to realize the country’s dreams of equality. While the story told here is not unique, its commonality with others may help in the development of needed solutions. The experience detailed here reflects broad career aspirations. There will be discussions about attitudes and emotional adjustments regarding the experiences related here to put things in a better perspective. There may also be times when more detail is articulated than the reader may feel is necessary. There are many issues that need discussion. In that regard, this book will discuss or relate experiences from several perspectives.
