This little book is very concise, and explains why we need to be more mindful of our sugar intake. I'm a very healthy eater, but I eat a LOT of frozen blueberries (my one vice). I've often wondered if I could lose a few pounds if I gave them up for a week or two. The thing that's been stopping me, though, is not knowing which healthy snacks to replace them with.Well, Deborah, you've given me my answer...The recipes in here look amazing, and I can't wait to try them!

Anthony Daly was the most successful captain in the history of Clare hurling, leading the county to two All-Irelands and three Munster titles. First appointed Clare captain at just 23, he retained the role for eight seasons. Regarded as an absolutely inspirational figure by his fellow players, the captaincy was a natural extension of his personality. It was that innate leadership and character which prompted the players, just three years after he finished playing with Clare, to pursue Daly as manager. When he took over in the autumn of 2003, Daly was just 34 and one of the youngest hurling inter-county managers ever appointed. During his three years in charge, he took Clare to the cusp of two All-Ireland finals, agonisingly losing the 2005 and 2006 All-Ireland semi-finals to the eventual winners, Cork and Kilkenny. It was that kind of ambition and drive to succeed which attracted Dublin to Daly. Since taking over the county in 2009, he has led Dublin to their first National League title in 72 years and their first Leinster title in 52 years. Dalo takes us from the early days growing up in Clarecastle, in County Clare, Ireland, to the graveyard years of the early part of his career with Clare, through the golden years and into his position in management. About the Author Anthony Daly is one of the most respected and dynamic hurlers and managers of his generation. He has enjoyed success as captain of the senior Clare hurling team throughout the 1990s, and more recently as manager of the Clare and Dublin teams respectively. His playing career saw him winning two senior All-Ireland medals, three Munster provincial medals, and three All-Star awards. At club level, he holds five county club medals for Clarecastle, and a provincial medal in 1997. Not all hurling fans may agree with the "style" & "tactics" of the Clare teams of Loughnane & Daly but they were what they were, not everyone's cup of tea. He brought Dublin to a Leinster victory & was extremely unlucky to lose to Cork in an All Ireland semi final. Good insight to club hurling along with that of county teams.

About the Author

In his teens, Russell Heath hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on the banks of the Tanana River. In his twenties, he lived in Italy and then traveled overland across the Sahara, through the jungles and over the savannas of Africa and into southern Asia. In his thirties, he sailed alone, in a 25 foot wooden boat, around the world. In his forties, he wrote novels. And in his fifties, he bicycled the spine of the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico. He’s worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the Alaska Legislature, and run a storied environmental organization fighting to protect Alaska’s coastal rainforests. Several years ago, he moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and coaching. He now coaches business and non-profit leaders as well as people who want to live rich, hand-crafted, masterful lives.

By Pamyla Love Broken Angels is well written with words that painted the varied Alaskan landscape with such richness to detail all my senses were activated, and the depth of each character was complex and believable. I felt immersed in each character and felt a witness and a part of each one's experience. It was like I could step into each characters shoes. While it was an engaging mystery, I feel Russell Heath truly tapped into something far deeper; the mystery of being human. The inner landscape of our being like Alaska with the right conditions can be soft and beautiful and full of light, or harsh and unforgiving and full of darkness where we give no second chances. Each one of these characters, is truly is an angel. Each one took action based upon flawed or broken beliefs, judgments, and assumptions based on their model of the world, leaving a trail of broken spirits. By the end, I felt only compassion for each character. Long after I put this book down, I continued to reflect on these characters. This novel has made an impact and opened me up to the broken angel in all of us, and perhaps the compassion I developed for the characters, I will be able to carry into the "real world" I am richer for having read this book.

However, I couldn't put this book down. The characters were so well defined. And the story had such rich detail that you do not want to over look a thing! If you like Stephen King novels and or watch the tv show Criminal Minds..well this will blow you away. Great investment of time. Took me about 4 days to finish. I look forward to reading more from Russell Heath.

He crafts a wide-ranging view of political history, philosophy and religion; romps through early twenty-first century current events and current cultures; forges a panoramic view of technology 500 years hence and hypothesizes societal evolution and responses to those "advances." Unlike most of the dystopian genre, in Nihala humanity persists because human qualities endure. Read this story thoughtfully, ponder the hints and teases the author plants along the way, and be surprised, or maybe not, at the adventure on which he leads you.

Why am I here?" send Kayla, an orphan crippled since birth, on a lifelong quest to discover her true identity and purpose. Exiled by her village, she finds incredible strength from within to take on unimaginable trials and discovers who and, more importantly, WHAT she is. Nihala is an epic tale of love, loss, betrayal and hope. A page turner from cover to cover, this reader wished the journey had not come to an end.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Sci-Fi Atheist Manifesto By Amazon Customer I bought this book in support of the author whom I knew as an outstanding fine artist. One who has a tremendous talent for bringing portraits to life. I was curious to see how his artistic , imaginative talent would translate in a literary endeavor. I was impressed by his style, pacing of the story, unique characters and metaphors for the future. It is a well written novel, hence the 4 stars .There are two stories in this novel. The first is a highly imaginative science fiction story that builds upon our current dilemma of technology vs. natural resources. It builds a wonderful, insightful look at the costs to humanity of living in a completely technological world. Unique characters are well fleshed out to build the setting, drive the plot, and reach a satisfying climax and denouement.The second story in this book is the incorporation of atheistic dogma intertwined with the science fiction. There is a deliberate incorporation of almost every argument that atheists use to deny God and proclaim their freedom only in a Darwinian natural evolutionary world. It is a theme that life has no supernatural mystery, only unexplained science. Science wins all cultural wars. The irony in this science fiction novel is that God and religion are designated the true science fiction.I would have preferred the building of the first story, without the indoctrination of the second. It could have stood well on its own. This book will appeal to those who like a great philosophical discussion.To those readers whom are deeply committed to their religious beliefs, I will quote Dorothy Parker. "This is not a book to be tossed lightly aside. It should be thrown with great force."

Eigentlich wollte ich ihn gar nicht lesen. Jedoch fing ich an und es wurde immer spannender. Der Verfasser scheint wirklich was von Militaertechnischen Sachen und Geheimdiest operationen zu verstehen. Wer gerne geopolitische Geheimdienst-romane liest, verknuepft mit Militaer und Verschwoehrung innerhalb davon, wird begeistert sein. Die Story ist auch realistisch und ended in einer riesen Ueberraschung. Ich habe schon Ludlum romane gelesen und finde das dieser Roman das gleiche Niveau hat.
