This book of "recipes and memories," from the author's summers spent at an Oregon lodge in her youth, provides a uniquely fascinating journey back to a more rustic (and simple) time. Throughout the book, the author recreates the experience of spending the week at the lodge in the 70s and 80s in a tone devoid of dewy-eyed nostalgia and maudlin sentiment, providing a glimpse into an idyllic family vacation and life that one can only hope to replicate in a more complicated world.The recipes are evidently authentic - there are no quinoa, arugula or other currently trendy ingredients. No organic items or new cooking techniques are called for, no gimmicks. There are no staged color pictures - only black and white pictures from the author's past. Despite all this, reading the book is an extremely soothing experience indeed.It's great to see that Amazon is carrying small imprint, personal books that resonate with the rest of us.

Juli Tantum has written an engaging history of the recipes and traditions of an iconic Oregon lodge. The accessible recipes are timeless and augmented with interesting commentary about the cooking styles and ingredients of the day. Your mouth will water as you contemplate the simple but delicious dishes, e.g., oven fried chicken, Walla Walla onion-rice casserole, "Roblay's salad," blueberry buckle desert. But this is more than just a cookbook; it's a window into the Lodge experience -- of hot summer days in the Oregon cascades spent hiking, fishing and horseback riding and cool nights spent relaxing and talking about the days activities with friends over dinner. As Ms. Tantum writes, food was (and remains) an integral part of what makes the Lodge experience so memorable. This cookbook will appeal to chefs, kitchen novices, and those just interested in a good read about an era that still lives on.

Lovely Book about Tradition and Food By Jackson Even if you, like me, have never been to an Oregon lodge, you will still savor the story and recipes in this book. It's a loving tribute to the often understated but invaluable art of the classic American family outing. The book is about about family, tradition, and food that brings the family together. The recipes are of familiar food, perfectly executed. These are meals that both grown-ups and kids can enjoy, meals the family can gather around.

So here I found a very wonderful book of smoothies for diabetic patients. My grandmother is diabetic and I prepared several smoothies for her. She loved Raspberry Red Lettuce Smoothie and few other. Smoothies are very easy to prepare and I didn't know this. After reading this book I am thinking about to start a business of smoothies in some cafe. Book illustrates the ingredients in pictorial form which is even more helpful.

I mean that's what's great about health food: it's not only for the sick! And especially as the majority of the smoothie recipes here are so appetizing, you really forget it's really health food...Orwel does it again - combining good chef expertise with health and good nutrition. I think I'll try a large number of the recipes offered here!

By Jay Roberts This book is filled with great and easy recipes for smoothies which can be prepared specially by diabetics. This book organizes all the recipes according to fruit colors: red, white, purple, yellow, ect, all the smoothies can be prepared adding chopped fruit or vegetables, ice and other components and blend all the ingredients, and thats it!. I totally recommend this ebook!

What a ride!! ;) What an ending!! Had me chuckling away but wanting more.This story is about a woman - Angel Jones; known to her clients as Scarlet Angel. A high class whore, as she calls herself. :) A woman who is also very business savvy and astute in the world she lives in.After a bad evening that had become somewhat violent, she takes a break and re discovers a letter she had received before that evening.Her much loved Aunt has passed leaving everything to her niece - Angel Jones. She heads back to the small town to farewell her Aunt and clear away the affairs that are needed to settle.There she meets Ramsey first, wild, solid built man, who just knows he’s god’s gift to women and is very determined to have Angel. :)Then she meets Guy, the son of her Aunts lawyer, who is now handling the legal side of things. Since his father retired. He too wants Angel and does not hesitate in flirting with her.The story tells us her perspective on her life and then the men who desire her. She tries to keep a balance, knowing she does not want a life they each desire with her. No matter how appealing it could be after her experiences. :)I loved the way it flowed, the characters and their interactions. Plenty of sex and humour, wit and stubborn men who made little effort in showing her how much they wanted her.I’ve read a few of Sahara’s books and loved each one. This was fun, erotic and filled with emotion as well as a good healthy dose of humour. I laughed out loud at the end!!! You have to give us more of these characters Sahara; was so cruel to leave it there, when we know who her client is!!!!! ;)Can’t wait for more!!

By Heidi Lynn First, I would like to thank Sahara Kelly for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.Warning I don’t think this appropriate book for anyone under the age of 18. There is a lot of sex, violence, and foul language in this book.Sahara Kelly sure knows how to write a hot erotic novel about whores. She did an fantastic job with her lead character ScarletAngel. She is firm in who she is and what she is. She likes the skin she is in. It may not be for others but this is the path that she has chosen. After reading the prologue you get a better since of her back story. I don’t condone this lifestyle personally. I can see why she would turn to it.I really enjoyed reading the Acknowledgements in the book. I like how Sahara got to thank her friend and superlative cover artist Scott Carpenter for working with her on this book

I am happy I discovered this book because now I don't have to keep looking for new Indian restaurants. The recipes are very easy to understand and follow. One of my favorite Indian dish is chicken tikka masala. This book provides a great recipe for this dish and many others. You can even find a long list with Indian desert recipes.

The action takes place in Green Oak Resort, Stronghill, where a party of journalists, writers, and actresses had arrived for a little time away from the city. Sergeant Wood is called to the resort, when one of them suddenly disappears, leaving behind a handful of strange clues. Wood looks around and asks a few questions, but everything seems too mysterious for him to understand. That is why the sergeant calls Detective Davis, who is happy to come and help him. The day Davis arrives, a second person goes missing, and the case becomes more serious. After a third person disappears, Jack Thomson, one of the guests, comes forward and explains that all three of the disappearances had happened in a manner similar to the one described by him in his paranormal TV show. Davis discovers that Jack has come here with his mistress, who also goes missing once Jack’s wife suddenly arrives. When the husband of the first victim is nowhere to be found, Davis calls for help, and asks the rest of the guests to stay put. The mystery is solved when Rose Donaldson, the fourth victim, manages to escape and tells everyone that Jack Thomson is the one kidnapping people. As it turns out, everybody is still alive, and Thomson kidnapped them so that he can keep the secret about his affair from his wife.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very entertaining and mind provoking. By Mary Trousdale I like being on the edge of my seat wondering who did it and acting strange discerning why. This mystery book does not give us hints on what’s going to happen next, and the rush keeps me alert. The disappearance of Mrs. Betty Nicolson and other three guests in the resort was so strange. The pacing of the story is just right and the ending really surprised me. This book is so engaging and it makes my whole reading so enjoyable.

I loved how the author developed the story and created suspense in this story. I was very curious to know about what exactly it is and how the haunted mystery is going to be solved. I loved the overall story of this haunted resort place and characters of people. The story was enough to make me feel scary. I was shocked to know the reality behind these mystery.

The plot was good and the storyline was well arranged. It was a very short story though, not deserving to be called a novel but it was a good read. The plot twist was interesting, surprises at the end of the story kept coming.A good selection for a short-time reading.

A Perfect Combination By Liz Castillo Common Grounds is a short, yet very delicious story about a chance encounter that turns into something spectacular.Kate's confections pair wonderfully with Mark's heavenly coffee. Their talents are superb alone, but together they are are force to be reckoned with.I love that Kate is an everyday kind of girl just trying to make her dreams come true. Although she's happy were she is with her career, she is striving for more. Her determination to succeed will not be hindered by those that tell her no.Mark is new to the area, but is already making a name for himself. He too is determined to succeed, although his road may be a little less bumpy than Kate's. I love his attitude about his job and his confidence shines through everything he does.Kate and Mark's chance encounter at the Club is sizzling. They way they meet and scene is thrilling to observe. To be that free and express yourself in that manner would defiantly be something to behold.Although they each want to be with the other, they have a bit of miscommunication. But after all is said and done, the fire between the two cannot be contained. Their passion is evident with every passing page.I loved this story completely. It is a delectable morsel that leaves you hungry more.

Yes that's right this cute little short is fun to read, full of all things good and puts a smilie one your face from the very beginning!!! SJ has done it again with this fast little read. Everything you could ask for in a sexy romance wth a little bit of comedy. I was given this book for an honest review I enjoyed the plot line and the characters...I sure hope SJ builds on these characters and starts a series!!!

Cooked beans would be much less expensive and frugal, yet this book includes just one page with generic hints for cooking beans.The author needs to return to the drawing board and start the book with how to cook each type of beans.Canned beans are not nearly as healthy as home cooked dry beans. The recipes here are decent recipes, but need to be rewritten to include at least the cup measurement equivalent of cooked beans to equal the "can" so freshly cooked beans can be used instead.

I was hoping for many more recipes using dry beans, but most are for canned beans. I do not use anything canned do to the high levels of BPA found in cans.

About a year ago I donated an entire library of books to an Indian reservation and to a person who restocks private library collections. I have been replacing that whole library over time on my Kindle. I also have been adding new books I am interested in. This is one of the new ones that caught my attention. I enjoyed it very much.
