And I was kind of like do I really want to read a tentacle book but it happened to be good. The name of the guy Zeyx was really cliche. There were a few grammatical errors and some moments where I was like really. The author gives us a pretty good one dimensional or shall I say two dimensional romance. Definitely worth the read.

I do not have hearing loss, and would recommend this book to people of all hearing levels. Many of the tips are applicable to hearing as well as non-hearing individuals (keep those meetings short and on agenda!). It is very insightful. It increases awareness of colleagues who may having hearing problems, and actions you can take to mitigate any communication issues.

About the Author

ALAN GRATZ is the author of several books for children and teens, including Samurai Shortstop, an ALA 2007 Top Ten Book for Young Adults. He began writing The League of Seven series by listing all the things that ten-year-old Alan would have thought were awesome, including brass goggles, airships, tentacled monsters, brains in jars, windup robots, secret societies, and super powers. (In fact, he still thinks all those things are awesome.) He lives in North Carolina with his wife and daughter.

Creative Steampunk for Middle Grade Readers By Vanessa C In THE LEAGUE OF SEVEN, our young heroes Archie, Hachi, and Fergus (along with Archie's trusty Tik Tok man Mr. Rivets) worked together to stop the Mangleborn monster from the Florida swamps. They discovered that these creatures are buried all over the Earth, waiting for the day when they will be freed from their prisons and can take over humanity. It is only a new League of Seven--a tinker, a law-bringer, a scientist, a trickster, a warrior, a strongman, and a hero--who can stop them.Now, in THE DRAGON LANTERN, with the first three members of new League discovered, they are sent on a quest by the Septemberist Society and Mrs. Moffitt to recover the Dragon Lantern. She believes this was the artifact that transformed Archie and may hold the answers to his past.But immediately upon recovering the lantern it's stolen. At the same time Hachi receives news about a lead that could uncover the mystery behind her father's death. Despite Archie's doubts about breaking up the newly formed League they part ways: Hachi and Fergus to New Orleans and Archie westward to reclaim the lantern. As a result the novel is pulled in two directions as we follow both storylines, which don't really intersect. While I found it somewhat frustrating to have two completely different storylines, it's essential for our young heroes to learn from hard experience that trying to do everything on your own makes it that much harder to find success.One complaint I had with LEAGUE was that Archie turned whiney at the end. In DRAGON while he still suffers from self-doubt and struggles with his shadow self, he becomes (somewhat) less self-pitying and more action-oriented as he works to recover the lantern. He learns that he doesn't have it as bad as other people and that he can use his abilities for good. His travels lead to Clyde, the young man who works on Captain Custer's giant traveling robot used to police the wild west. Despite the difficulties they face, Clyde's upbeat attitude buoys Archie. Archie comes to admire Clyde's natural-born leadership and begins to wonder if perhaps his new friend could be the League's hero. Another fun character added in DRAGON is the fox girl, the lantern's thief--she can create mirages to fool her pursuers, an ability that throws off Archie more than once.Meanwhile, Hachi struggles with her desire for revenge when she discovers the evil Madam Blavatksy's role in her father's death. Hachi can't kill the woman until she tells about the events surrounding not only his death but the 99 other men of their tribe. But New Orleans is unstable: the queen has been hoodwinked by Blavatsky, zombie police the city, dead spirits can ride living people, and a Mangleborn lies sleeping under Lake Pontchartrain...until Blavatsky wakes it. It's all a big mess. Fortunately, Hachi and Fergus find help from Marie Laveau, a Septemberist. Hachi is pretty single-minded, but Fergus proves himself to be a stabilizing influence over the hot-headed girl. Their blossoming romance is sweet as they navigate the complications of working together in dangerous situations and their growing feelings for each other.Gratz continues to expand on the world we were introduced to in LEAGUE. In DRAGON we explore a floating city, a city that moves with the railroad that's under construction, Native Americans traveling in strange conveyances across the plains. In New Orleans they discover voodoo magic, zombies, loa. And of course, there seems to be Mangleborn everywhere they go. Only, each Mangleborn has different abilities and is imprisoned in different ways. How can these kids ever hope to conquer such powerful creatures?Like the first book, DRAGON is strong on plot, but this time around we see more character growth--however slow. So many exciting events happen clear up to the end of the book. Unlike the more fantastical Gideon Smith series Gideon Smith and the Mechanical Girl--which while not Middle Grade they are steampunk with similar themes/setting--the League's action sequences feel more like an authentic result of events. Along the way in DRAGON the Leaguers discover new members and learn some answers about Hachi's father and Archie's origins. Dragon Lantern pulls out all the stops and seriously ups the ante in this League of Seven novel. Great action, super suspense, and characters you really care about. Can't wait for book three!

Each director is a master of the craft and each brought their own special contribution to the development of science fiction in their own unique way. - - - Things changed with the release of Star Wars, a film which became a landmark of science fiction. The management of 20th Century Fox, who had missed all the rights to this franchise, quickly wanted to rehabilitate their standing by creating a first-class product in the form of Alien. Walter Hill, not being able to cope with the expectations of the studio, decided to leave. Many candidates wanted the vacant position of director, but the post was filled by Ridley Scott. It was originally allocated a budget of $4.8 million, but when Scott presented the sketches of his vision of a futuristic setting, the budget was doubled. O'Bannon took an active part in making the film. He convinced the director to return to the original plot with the alien spaceship and he advised him to invite painters Chris Foss and Jean Giraud to the project, both of whom he had previously worked with on Dune. But the main assistance that O'Bannon gave to Scott was in introducing him to the book Necronomicon by Hans Rudolf Giger. The director was amazed by the works of the Swiss painter. Soon Giger proceeded to create the image of a Xenomorph, and became carried away by the process. He also created the design of the alien ship with the eggs and the face-huggers. - - - The most important new hero, Master Yoda, was not human. It was an animated doll. Initially, the form of Yoda was far from what we know now. Lucas showed some of his sketches to Stewart Freeborn, maker of creatures. Taking on board Lucas’ concept, Freeborn did a fantastic job to create the Yoda we know and love. Many of the unique features, special to Yoda, were imagined by Freeborn. The most important element of Master Yoda is his intelligent eyes, which were borrowed from Albert Einstein. George Lucas knew that Master Yoda was the key character, on which depended the fate of the film. Therefore, shooting the doll came with a mountain of responsibility. A few people controlled the green man at the same time. One person brought his voice to life, while another was moving its ears and hands, and a third controlled the eyes and facial expressions on his face. - - - "When we were filming Titanic, we did not think about success. We thought that we squandered a lot of money, because we are over budget. That is when we started filming, we thought that a bit to make money - to spend as planned only a $100 million. We spent two hundred and decided that doomed: we would not earn a penny! Rather, it was already a question of how much we would lose - $50 million or more? And then it turned out that the film hit the jackpot. Everyone was shocked. Ask yourself - what was it that work? This film has just touched the desired string. Because it is about a fact that is close and clear to every person on earth ...”

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Indeed... By Alex H. I'm starting to believe Ms. Zedde intentionally creates novella's to leave us wanting more and more...and more. I was so attached to this novella that I literally didn't want to do anything else [like homework, watch TV...or breathe] until I finished reading each story.With that said, I'm going to need a very detailed followup on the first story, "To Italy with Love"! I didn't make it halfway through that story before recommending it to all of my friends. I love the unexpected antithesis that she created only to have the characters do a back flip with a twist and land face first, dust themselves off and do it all again. The toe-curling sensuality that she caressed into this novella goes in through the eyes and out amidst clenched thighs...The second story, "That Girl, She's a Killer", was quite different from what I'm used to reading, so I'm still waffling as to if I should feel guilty for finding bloody violence mixed with some naughty business somewhat appealing...The final story, "Vicissitudes", is standing somewhere on the precipice of being sci-fi with an element of reality because genetics are amazing! This is definitely a "love endures all things" type of story and I rather enjoyed it.

From her short stories to her novels, Ms. Zedde is the best at what she does. To Italy With Love is different and unexpected which made me love it even more. The twists, turns, and surprises left me wanting more.

Beautifully written and so well crafted. I devoured this book in a few hours. The intricate story telling draws you in and there are such vivid details I felt transported! Excellent.

I have had the same experiences and I have come to the same conclusions as Thom. The same phrases have come to my mind. I have no desire to find Bigfoot, He has found me. Some day the public at large will soon figure this all out, that is if those in authority will allow them to know, hear and accept the truth.I had trouble with the chapters written or authored by others. I like first hand accounts, not second hand. I also had a hard time with the last few chapters. I just couldn't get into the crop circles. I skimmed through it though. I believe I am not prepared to hear or understand that aspect yet. I believe it takes time to accept this new information. Most of it has been delivered to the public in a disjointed manner therefore causing confusion in general, so they are not prepared to hear the rest of the story. I, even with my personal experiences as an habituator am having a hard time accepting the alien phenomena. I like most people want to stick my head in the proverbial sand. After all, ignorance is bliss.People need to prepare for the truth and make all the connections now. This book does just that. I highly recommend adding this book to your Bigfoot collection.

A Great, yet Mischevious, Thought Provoking Book By Outlaw31 Stay with me on this one...Powell wrote a very interesting and readable book IF you are familiar with the paranormal sasquatch/UFO crowd. I'm on the flesh and blood Bigfoot team, but admit there are some spooky aspects of the Squatch that needs to be better understood, so I admire Powell for throwing out his theory to the public. My problem with his theory is that it is the easy way out to just state "paranormal this, paranormal that." Perhaps it is just science we have not fully unraveled yet.So, where are the aliens that helped us build this, that, the Mina Mounds, pyramids, Stonehenge, etc.? Did they just disappear and never return to help construct the Arch, Golden Gate Bridge, St. Peters, the Hagia Sophia? Now, they live underground and snatch hikers from remote places and hijack folks from their homes, campground, etc. to siphon genetic material from us. And the aliens speak English, resemble humans, lizards, mantises, and little grey men (Hollywood aliens)...and Bigfeet are their lackeys and muscle...??? Amazingly, the aliens, squatches, etc. all have human traits and characteristics, speak telepathically,breath oxygen...but even they cannot give winning lotto #s.Thom gets into wormholes, portals, black holes, Ike cutting bad deals with aliens, crop circles, alien messages from space inside crop circles, and many more interesting and odd topics. Yet, he pulls it all together in his conclusion...which will surprise you after reading everything that comes before it.I did enjoy this book. It forces you to ask yourself questions...and that is the purpose of science, to ask better questions. And if Powell's theories are correct, I'll be in the line congratulating him.

I tried the Spinach meatloaf and it was yummy - will be trying more at a later date.I would have liked to see more recipes using plain hamburger instead of the ones with lamb, sausages, etc. as it's the basic ease of using hamburger that makes the meatloaf a simple meal. Inspiring, original recipes.

You know what they say about how curiosity killed the cat, well in this case it is the Lady Catherine and her curiosity about the Queens lovers that almost got her killed. And her punishment to be ruined by the Captain of the Guard and The other eight members of her elite guard so that nobody will believe a word she says about the Queen. I liked how the story ended with her becoming a lady in waiting for the Queen. I definitely recommend this story. I can’t wait to read more stories by this author. Sam(antha) is everything that I wish I could be, but I think I'm more like Colten. She's very spontaneous and full of life. After graduating from college, she has the summer off before she starts her new job in NYC and heads home to spend time with her family. After chauffeuring young Kajsa to a ranch, Sam sits down and makes a bucket list for the summer. What a FUN and creative list! I've tried to make a bucket list before and it just seems boring. Sam isn't afraid to try new things, but she is afraid from varying from her goals and lists.Her first meeting with Colten the cowboy is hilarious. Colten is much more serious and is content with his life just the way it is. Who needs adventure and fun to change things up? Definitely not him. Sometimes opposites really do attract and two people become a good balance for each other. I love the way their personalities really come to life throughout the story.I really loved the setting--a ranch in Colorado right during the summer! I love horses, but my youngest is the real horse lover in the family and Kajsa reminds me so much of her. I really enjoyed that aspect of the story--horses, training a wild mustang, ranch life, etc.There were so many moments that had me smiling, laughing out loud, and just feeling plain old happy. Of course, there were some hard times too, but for the most part, this story is sunshine and rainbows and highly recommended for any and all clean romance lovers!Content: clean kissing and nothing else of note.*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

Another awesome romance from author Rachael Anderson.Rachael is one of my favorite authors and this book is a good example of why. Spontaneous Sam's bucket list for the summer includes learning to ride a horse, riding a bull in a rodeo and having a fling with a cowboy. Stick in the mud cowboy Colton McCoy may not seem like a perfect match but when he sets out to help Sam with her bucket list these two opposites may have more in common than anyone thought.This book contains a wonderfully fun romantic story without any unneeded content. Easy read for an adult but still gripping storyline. I will read the whole series as it comes out. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm so excited that my girls had an opportunity to help proofread this book in the making. Highly recommend. Yes it is a murder mystery but if your kids can handle HP this is no big deal. No foul language and no adult "scenes". So excited for a new middle school series.

The book was written for the younger reader, but, I am an adult and I found the book very good. I like her characters, they are all believable, well rounded people you might meet yourself. The stories although are based on people with the ability to communicate with the dead, are believable, and possible. Even if you don't believe yourself, you would still enjoy the book.
