Food and sex, sex and food - I can't decide which is more compelling, but woven together like this results in a delectable, explosive story and reading experience! Wow. Throw in a smart, strong woman lead, who takes just what she wants and the story grabs you and doesn't let go. I laughed so hard at the "embryonic eater"! I can hardly wait to finish my binge.

Acceptable, not terrible By Paul Badger I am perhaps spoiled by amazing storytellers who invest a little energy into character, even in quick erotic stories. The plot was fun, way too quick but fun. It loses two stars because the characters are totally vapid; its impossible to differentiate the two female charcters and the uncle is just there.

Bala There's such a groundswell of support for Ms. Marvel, I won't be surprised if she's soon embigenning her bad self in the Marvel Cinematic U. For now, we have to settle for her exploits as read on paper (or online, if that's your jam). MS. MARVEL: CRUSHED collects issues #12-15 as well as S.H.I.E.L.D. #2. It's another first rate TPB mostly brought about by writer G. Willow Wilson and temp artists Elmo Bondoc (issue #12) and Takeshi Miyazawa (issues #13-15). S.H.I.E.L.D. #2 is by Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos.More than any other contemporary teen character in comics, it's Kamala Khan (sorry, Miles Morales) who best recalls the 1960s Peter Parker that struck such a chord back in the day. I think, for a superhero to truly make an impact, their civilian identity has to resonate just as strongly with the readers. Kamala resonates on several levels. Not only does she represent Marvel's push for ethnic diversity, but G. Willow Wilson has done an amazing job at making her so relatable. My 9-year-old niece, who resents reading but loves Kamala, reserved the first Ms. Marvel TPB at the library, never mind that there's a month-long waiting list. Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teenager living in Jersey City but under a Muslim household. Yet she comes across as such a normal, typical American girl. She's a bit of an outcast and an uber-nerd - and it tickles that she writes fanfic - and insecure and trying to catch a feel for what she wants to be. And, really, that's essentially Stan Lee's Peter Parker right there, an out-of-sorts kid with amazing powers, and we can absolutely relate to what he's going thru. Same with Kamala. As a plus, we're treated to some much-needed insight into a culture that, post-911, has been kicked to the curb in these parts. But, because it's seen thru Kamala's eyes, it's all made accessible.And what's more accessible than teen crushes? Hold up, though. Issue #12 deals with Kamala's sneaking out to crash a Valentine's Day school dance as Ms. Marvel, only to run into the mischief-making Loki, and, so, cue the mischief. Issues #13-15 is the "Crushed" arc in which Kamala thinks she's found her soulmate ('s what happens when you read too much fanfic, yo), and she gets caught up in the shady dealings in New Attilan prior to the final Inhumans issue, and sweet pop culture references are made re Stars Trek and Wars.I won't wax rhapsodic (again) over how awesome Kamala is - we now take it for granted that, in G. Willow Wilson's hands, Kamala will remain a fully fleshed out character. What's especially fun for me in this arc is that Kamala's best friend/sidekick Bruno gets a chance to shine. I appreciate the lengths he'd go to to respond to Kamala's S.O.S. code. There's a ridiculous vibe to his sub-plot but also a concentrated intensity as he navigates the many impediments that keep him from reaching Kamala.One tiny complaint is the absence of Adrian Alphona's delicate, cartoony art. Still, Bondoc and Miyazawa's styles lend enough whimsy and similarity to Alphona's that I settled in eventually. If there's one seriously rough patch, it's that the storyline's biggest bad, Lineage, comes off as too clichéd and melodramatic. He fits in better in those 1930s serial reels, with the mustache-twirling that he does. And, seriously, Kaboom?As a bonus, S.H.I.E.L.D. #2 has the adorable techhead Jemma Simmons going undercover at Kamala's school... and, then, shenanigans. Also, Ms. Marvel finds a new application for her polymorphing powers. I only wish this story had given more time for Jemma and Ms. Marvel to bond.

By Mike I wont write an extensive review as many others have already eloquently discussed the book. One thing that needs to be mentioned is the change in ART style used for comics making up Volume 3.Adrian Alphona did most of the art for Vol 1 and 2 but is nowhere to be seen in Volume 3. The background jokes, the attention to detail, these are things Alphona is responsible for. The visuals in Vol 3 are OK but are barebones in comparison to the other two works and the highlights of Vol 1 2 were the "Where's Waldo"-esqe sight gags.Still a good read....

Certainly one of the best books in Marvel's current catalog. I think people have a tendency to overrate it and talk about it like it's one of the best comic books of all time (it isn't), but it's got a lot going for it. It's well written, very well illustrated and has a lot of personality. It's usually pretty lighthearted, and it's just plain fun to read.This volume is the first that doesn't feature regular artist Adrian Alphona at all. He's one of the best artists in the industry and the best part of the book for me personally, but the fill-in art on this book is still terrific. The shifting art styles aren't too jarring, and it maintains the same tone throughout. Plus the covers are always top notch.One of my standing complaints about this book has been that there isn't really any tension. I think they've aimed for tension-- particularly between Kamala and her family-- but I think it's one of the few elements of this book that hasn't really been successful. This volume takes a step in the right direction. Kamala does experience some consequences of being a superhero, and romance is a major theme of these stories. It still falls short of what I would consider true dramatic tension; I like Kamala quite a lot, yet I'm never really worried about what's going to happen to her.I'd ding this book a little bit for the addition of an issue of SHIELD featuring Kamala, but it's not enough of a drag to affect the star rating. Marvel loves to pad TPBs with additional issues from their characters' appearances in other series, and I don't remember ever feeling like it enriched the experience. This time is no different. It's a missable adventure that takes place at Kamala's school and involves Ms. Marvel teaming up with SHIELD. It's written by Mark Waid (who's a good writer) and drawn by Humberto Ramos (whose distorted art almost gives me an actual headache). This chapter didn't add anything to the story aside from showing Kamala proving herself to SHIELD, but it plays out predictably and won't necessarily lead anywhere. More likely they just wanted to use her to give SHIELD a bump, both in the second issue of its ongoing series and by forcing Ms. Marvel readers to pay for what basically amounts to a sneak peek of the first SHIELD TPB. They do this kind of stuff all the time when stories cross over or feature guest stars, often requiring TPB readers to buy the same story twice if they follow both series. Needless to say, I don't appreciate the practice. To its credit, this story gets right to the point. It's a rare standalone issue, which I do appreciate.As you may or may not know, Ms. Marvel is set to join the Avengers in a few months. I think this is the penultimate book in her ongoing series before that happens. I criticized her crossover with Wolverine in the last volume for feeling a little too soon (though the timing was dictated by Wolverine's scheduled death), and the idea of her joining the Avengers in the near future is WAY too soon (it will probably be argued by some that this is dictated by Marvel's universe-resetting event Secret Wars, but her addition to the team following a major event is an issue of convenience rather than outright necessity). I miss the days when solo heroes could be solo heroes, and I think making her an Avenger so quickly is a bad idea and a real disservice to the character. So enjoy her this way while you can.

Absolutely love the characters and their intriguing personalities that they possess. Daisy is a very compelling teen who I absolutely adore. If you love female protagonists as much as I do, you will love the imagination behind her world of supernatural surprises. She faces challenges that only the mind can conquer, and she does it skillfully.I always hate giving any specifics or details in my reviews that may spoil the reader, so I'll just say this: Strange Luck is a faced paced adventure that pulls you into a world of pure imagination with twists and turns to keep you on the end of your seat. A blend of Alice in Wonderland meets Narnia in this delightful read. You'll be wondering what is real and what isn't. The mind is a wonderful tool, but can be treacherous if we abuse it. If memories are what keep us from losing the best of our past - to lose them would be a haunting future.This has everything you would want in a fantasy book and more. Strange Luck is both whimsical and thrilling behind its creative and descriptive imagery. I read this book with my 12 year old son, and even he thought it was one of the most creative and original books yet. This kid reads a lot. I give Strange Luck 5 amazing stars. It reminded me of how powerful the mind is, and how we can control our thoughts to the point of affecting the quality of our lives. It also brought out the importance and preciousness of our memories, something to cherish and hold on to as we get older. I agree that Strange Luck would make an awesome movie. The writing was so descriptive, I could picture and feel the adventure of the characters. I hope to see more of Amie's writing in the future!

Think about it, what is life but an accumulation of experiences. She dreams of traveling and writing although her immediate future has her inheriting Strange Luck, which isn't exactly the most wonderful outcome in her books.Among the countless fascinating objects within the store, there is a particular envelope that brings much attention... especially since it was supposed to be given to a Mr. Farnsworth and has been passing from generation to generation for the last century... until an odd looking man comes claiming said letter as his own.That's when things start getting interesting and where Strange Luck takes you headfirst into an adventure that feels a bit like the Neverending Story and Alice in Wonderland while exploring a lot of new territory in the Nameless, a world sold as Utopia and which is far from it. As beautiful as it is frightening a concept, the idea does tantalize the mind.Amie Irene Winters does a wonderful job of keeping you interested in seeing what happens next until the book is over, and you're wondering if you didn't just lose a memory along the way. Daisy is a likable character as well as Roger, her best friend, but where this book shines is in the details, the could have beens, the side stories, and the rich foundation of a place called the Nameless. I felt myself standing in an area that was the fantasy equivalent of the vast caverns in Journey to the Center of the Earth.It is a beautiful book that made me smile and often surprised me with so many wonderful premises I can't help but wonder what a collection of side stories would be like. What are fairies really like?Definitely recommend this book to any and all who love a good slice of fiction that leaves you wondering what if, over and over again, which is the sign of a story that sticks with you and would no doubt be a memory worth being stolen.

They get temporary custody of her and she wonders how everyone is able to move forward while she is stuck on the day of the accident.You will get a glimpse into how Hayden is really feeling by her diary entries and your heart is going to break for her over and over again. You will find yourself praying that she can get her act together and find a way to move on and start to heal. I still can't believe BEFORE LIFE HAPPENED is a debut novel and I excited to see where this series is going to go. The characters are very real and you will be caught up in their troubles and lives in no time at all. I had a hard time putting this face paced novel down and I read it in one sitting. Isabel Curtis is going to be an author I am keeping on my radar.

Now, I'm eagerly awaiting the second installment of this wonderful tale. Volume one sets the bar very high with a beautiful and ghastly world populated with the kindest and cruelest of creatures. I only hope Mr. Hampton can reach this level of creativity in his next installment. Since my introduction to the world of the Seven Cities, I frequently find myself traveling back to the river Brumfast and the Two Trees Inn made so real by the author. I marvel at how deftly and vividly this world was delineated. Bilgermuck Ethalbard, especially, was made flesh, blood and bone by Mr. Hampton's compassionate rendering. Looming large from beginning to end of Book I, this caninus non grata is the heart and soul of the tale and the most unlikeliest of heroes. Every reader will envision rising above humble beginnings to embark on their own heroic journey in the manner of Bilgermuck the dhogler.Do yourself a favor and read Crowns of Silver and Ash. You'll be transported to a land both exciting and terrifying. Not a page goes by without a new revelation about the denizens or landscape of Andulen. A few pages will be enough to grab you by the imagination and not let you go. Maybe, after reading Book I, you too will yearn for the second installment of this fantastic odyssey. It can't arrive too soon to suit me. Crowns of Silver and Ash is a novel to be read and savored by all who have adventure in their hearts. Enjoy the journey!

For the next two or three weeks, I kept thinking of the characters and world that Mr. Hampton had woven together in just that one chapter, so I decided to get a copy.From the very beginning, I was drawn into a wonderfully crafted world of unimaginable and unique creatures, landscapes, and song! From Bildgermuck the dhogler who looks nothing like Man, but is more noble than most, to Caldyr, the Man most want to be, to Grimfox, who seems to be evil incarnate, but one I couldn't help but feel some compassion for, I couldn't nail down my favorite character.I really enjoyed reading this, and I look forward to reading it again. I can't wait for Book II. I highly recommend this book!!!

I thought the genre really wasn't my thing but my friend gave me their copy so I decided to at least try and read it. I was hooked from the start! After just the first chapter, I was totally invested in the main character and couldn't wait to find out where the journey led next.

Unfortunately it is not a glamorous cocktail event but instead a casual BBQ where beer and wine is consumed in mostly moderate amounts, mindful of our assorted offspring watching the latest Disney movie in the lounge room. We all love the idea of offloading the children on a babysitter and having an adult's only soirée though and Babe Scott's, The Lazy Hostess, offers some great ideas on how to do just that.I wouldn't say I am a Lazy Hostess but easy, quick and cheap works for me. Peppered with quotes, "I drink to make my friends more interesting - Don Marquis", and fun illustrations, this book is a practical guide to hosting a cocktail party for friends. While I skimmed over Babe's fashion advice, I appreciated her simple suggestions about decor. There are also chapters on 'The 7 Habits of Highly Stress-free Hostesses' and how to get your guests to go home. On Scott's website you can also find invitations to print, Spotify playlists and more recipes.I happen to enjoy cooking, but not spending hours in slaving in the kitchen, so I was particularly interested in Scott's recipe ideas and I was pleased to find a few new 'Devilishly Easy Hors D'Oeuvres' to try. Scott offers some great tips for planning, preparation and service and many of the recipes have no more than a half a dozen ingredients, most of which you can probably find in your pantry. Some are so simple but very clever like the Tempting Potato Wedges (wrap streaky bacon around frozen potato wedges, secure with a toothpick and bake) and I know I will be trying the Potato-Crisp Crusted Cheese Balls.Of course there are plenty of cocktail recipes as well, from the classic Pina Colada to the Mafia's Kiss. I particularly like that Babe provides the method for preparing pitchers of the various concoctions. Who wants to be stuck behind the bar all night?A fun and practical reference book, The Lazy Hostess is a handy resource for any hostess who wants to be the mostest. It would also make a great housewarming or hen's gift.

Her website is a fantastic extension of her book, so I know I'll always have the latest, up-to-date tips, tricks and advice on how to continue being a party queen.

By EasyReader I'm the type of person who finds the idea of entertaining in my home more stressful that studying for an exam. But the adorable illustrations and retro design had me leafing through this book anyway. . . and then it sucked me in. I loved the message this author sends that it's much more important for your guests to feel welcome and for you to enjoy yourself than it is to have the perfect looking canapé! The recipes look easy and yummy and the planning tips useful, but it's the attitude I liked most of all. Why should throwing a party be so much work when the goal is for everyone to have fun? I'm going to open a bottle of wine, call a friend and get to planning this weekend!

This happens to be the first book in Miss Belle's NEW series, Secret Affairs, and I have to say, that it is incredible. I fell in absolute L-O-V-E with the plot. The idea of a married couple adding another person into their bedroom is so darn sensual to me. Especially since some women do fantasize about adding another man into the mix and it is not common for the husband to want that also. My only real complaint about the book is I wish it was longer.Julianne and Jared have the kind of relationship we all dream about. When fantasies are revealed and they add the husband's friend, Cole into their lives and bedroom, things go from a satisfying simmer, to a full fledged bonfire. I was beyond amazed with how sexy things got! Kelsie Belle has a knack for bringing the kind of erotic delights one expects in this kind of book. I mean, I know it happens in real life, but the books never take into account details like jealousy and they way they sometimes come about is totally abrupt. "She likes us both, so let's tag team, yes?". Uhm, no.In The Guest it happened in a much more believable and organic way. It had the normal pitfalls, emotional involvement that I've come to expect with relationships. I really enjoyed the story. The sex was very sexy. All in all, a great read that I'd highly recommend!

By Jenn Raunch (Rave and Rant about Raunch Book Blog) Irresistible IndulgeEverybody has their fantasies and the object of their fantasies. Irresistible Indulge is about a woman satisfying her own wish fulfillment with a mysterious neighbor who has held her eye for months. They’ve been playing a game of peeping tom. It isn’t clear that he reciprocated the game but I think Harmon left that open for us to decide and my decision was that he was just as guilty as she was about watching her one woman show. Indulge is about instant gratification and we, the reader don’t have to wait long to get to the steamy good parts (especially since it’s a novella). This is the second Irresistible novella I’ve read and AJ’s female character seem to have a quirky trend in different ways. They have some awkward tendencies that you can’t help but just love and find endearing. In such a quick read, Harmon gets you thinking and leaves bits and pieces open for interpretation, which I think is a great idea for a novella of this length.Irresistible RevengeWow. I don’t think I’ve laughed, smiled, and snickered so much while reading a novella ever before as I have just moments ago. Irresistible Revenge is the story of a woman scorned and the steamy and also unhinged (in the best way possible) antics that ensue. Chocolate, wine, and great sex are important to a woman and the lead female in this novella knows the first two are true and learns quickly about the third. We, the readers get to be prvy on her journey of discovery in the importance of fine produce! Revenge is served best at your local marketplace and a carefully laid plan to remove cheating ex-husbands from the house don’t hurt in the healing process either! I felt the story was complete but there were also many questions I had that in the way it was done I could kind of run with and make up my own story lines with. While their romance is a little too quick for my tastes it is a quickly read, novella and the story is called Irresistible Attraction after all. This couple is sweet and making up for lost time. This hasn’t been my favorite in the Irresistible Collection but everyone loves a second chance at love, right?Irresistible PassionI’ll be honest I went into this one with some trepidation. I’m not your typical romantic and don’t typically like the stories that include kids or the troubles of a stagnant marriage. I soon found that while Irresistible Passion doesn’t involve the storyline I typically gravitate to, it was fantastic. The female lead is a romance novel junky (sound familiar to anyone?) and like many of us have, she gets swept up in wanting to recreate steamy scenes from her favorite novels and cold hard realistic comedy ensues for this couple. While this lowers the stem level of the novella a bit, we do get a life-like version of what happens when things go horribly wrong in the bedroom. I practically read this story with tears in my eyes. The female lead loves her romance novels which brings in elements of familiarity and a feeling of being able to relate.

And why does the fire dept. have to be called to our girls house not to long after her sexual interlude!?Attraction ~ A woman goes to her high school reunion and runs into her long time crush! The stars align and they find that they are both available. They have been in love with each other for years but one thing led to another and they didn't end up together. This is a sweet story that has an HEA that will make you a little misty and leave you smiling!Passion ~ Let me just say that I laughed my ass off during this story! I can totally see this happening to someone! After so many years with someone you sometimes feel the need to really spice things up and step out of your comfort zone! But in this story, there are giggles, hospitals, stiches, ambulances and a slew of first responders who have a funny story to tell!I highly suggest these short stories!**I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review**

This book explores the meanings of every day behaviors that most of us overlook, little clues into personality types and motives. It shows small ways to spot a liar, and ways to determine if someone is interested in you. I liked the section on body language. It talks about how variations in eye glancing can determine if a person is recalling memories or creating a lie. It's a very interesting read, particularly if you work with people on a regular basis! I'd highly recommend!
